  • Celestial Jazz Series during 2023 focused on recognizing and presenting Jazz as a non-traditional approach to mental health wellness in response to the May 14, 2022 tragic murders of 10 community members by a white supremacist that occurred in our neighborhood. Six(6) free Jazz concerts; performed in the sacred atmosphere of church sanctuaries located in the heart of Buffalos Black community, included Reimagine:I Am Change featuring Rodney Whitaker and Rodney Appleby, John Bern Thomas, Esli Honore,Charenee Wade and Year of Healing concert featuring South African Nduduzo Makhathini Quartet presented to highlight the international connection of Jazz to our community. All six events were well attended and appreciation expressed by audience members, many of whom shared being positively impacted.
