Mission
TO INSPIRE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES TO DISCOVER AND APPRECIATE THE RICH HISTORY OF THE FOX VALLEY AREA.
-
FOUNDED IN 1872 AS A PIONEER ASSOCIATION, THE OUTAGAMIE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY STEADFASTLY PRESERVES THE HISTORY OF THE FOX CITIES IN EAST CENTRAL WISCONSIN. NOW AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS THE HISTORY MUSEUM AT THE CASTLE, DUE TO OUR LOCATION IN A FORMER MASONIC TEMPLE, THE ORGANIZATION IS A THRIVING CULTURAL INSTITUTION WITH DEEP TIES TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. IN 2018 THE INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES (IMLS) EVEN RECOGNIZED THE MUSEUM AS ONE OF JUST TEN RECIPIENTS OF THE NATIONAL MEDAL FOR MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICE, THE NATION'S HIGHEST HONOR GIVEN TO MUSEUMS AND LIBRARIES. AT THE HISTORY MUSEUM, WE CONTINUALLY SEEK TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO DISCOVER AND APPRECIATE THE RICH HISTORY OF THE FOX VALLEY THROUGH EXHIBITION, EDUCATION, AND COLLECTIONS. IN THIS WAY, OUR STAFF MEMBERS FOSTER COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS THAT BUILD SOCIAL COHESION AND MEET LOCAL CHALLENGES. DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMING HAS ALLOWED THE HISTORY MUSEUM TO ENGAGE NEW AUDIENCES BEYOND THE INSTITUTION'S WALLS. PUBLIC EDUCATION TAKES PLACE AT THE MUSEUM IN THE FORM OF EXHIBITS AND LECTURE SERIES, BUT OUR DYNAMIC PROGRAMS ALSO EXTEND INTO CONCERT HALLS, COMMUNITY VENUES, AND EVEN CITY STREETS IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
