Mission and programs · 2022
Mission
THE AWBC WORKS TO SECURE ECONOMIC JUSTICE AND ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN BY SUPPORTING AND SUSTAINING A NATIONAL NETWORK OF OVER 100 WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTERS (WBCS).
Activities or mission (Part I)
EDUCATION FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS TO WOMAN ENTREPRENEURS.
-
ADVOCATE. CONNECT. ENGAGE (ACE): THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON THE ISSUES AND BARRIERS AFFECTING WOMEN SEEKING TO START AND/OR GROW THEIR BUSINESSES BY SEEKING THE CREATION AND PASSAGE OF GOVERNMENT POLICIES (IN ADDITION TO SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SHIFTS) AT THE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEVELS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON THOSE THAT SUFFERED OR CONTINUE TO SUFFER ECONOMIC HARM AS A RESULT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AS WELL AS THOSE THAT ARE IN GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS SUCH AS SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DESERTS AND THOSE AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS. A GLOBAL SURVEY OF SMALL-BUSINESS OWNERS SHOWS WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS WERE MOST AFFECTED BY THE STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS ISSUED EARLY IN THE PANDEMIC BECAUSE THEY WERE MORE LIKELY TO RUN "NONESSENTIAL" BUSINESSES. AS A RESULT, WOMEN-LED BUSINESSES WERE DISPROPORTIONATELY HURT BY THE EFFECTS OF SHUTDOWNS, AND MORE LIKELY TO CLOSE THAN THOSE RUN BY MEN.
Expenses $500,000 · Grants $128,176 · Revenue $48,613
-
CAPACITY BUILDING: TO BUILD CAPACITY AND CULTIVATE SUSTAINABILITY FOR WOMEN'S BUSINESS CENTERS AND WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES ACROSS THE NATION.
Expenses $383,476 · Grants $100,000 · Revenue $48,614

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
