Mission
Shaped by Christian principles, McMurry University challenges students to examine our complex world from multiple perspectives in preparation for lives of leadership, service and professional success.
-
McMurry University was founded in 1923 by the united Methodist church. During the 2023-2024 Year, McMurry celebrated its first 100 years with Centennial events throughout the year. The university challenged students to grow academically and socially with 66 academic majors and 40 academic, social and service organizations. Also offered to our approximately 2,459 racially and ethnically diverse students, are professional preparation programs in athletic training, engineering, allied health, dentistry, medicine, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, law, and ministry along with a Masters of Accountancy and a Masters of Science in Nursing in Education or Family Nurse Practitioner. The University is proud to offer a low student to faculty ratio of 13 to 1, average class size of 14 and does not use teaching assistants in the classrooms. Students can explore international culture by participating in an active national and international model UN program and annual travel abroad educational programs. Also available to students is a student-run art gallery and artwork owned by the University appraised at $164k. The School of Business has recently received a ten million dollar endowment and business students at McMurry can participate in managing a one million dollar investment fund.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Housing allowance or residence for personal use
- A housing allowance is provided to the University's President and is treated as taxable compensation on their W-2. A housing allowance is provided to the University's Chaplain and is treated as non-taxable compensation under the Ministerial Housing Allowance.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Health or social club dues or initiation fees
- The University provides country club dues and university owned auto use to the President and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, which is common for universities. This is considered part of their compensation and is a taxable benefit.
