We relate returns by organization, tax year and form, and order them by each return's own timestamp; the filer's own "amended return" checkbox is a separate fact.
Both are the same on the two returns, so the amendment changed something else.

Mission and programs · 2023
Primary exempt purpose
Ecumenical service program for young adults, age 18-29, who come to live together in Asheville, NC, each serving different local area nonprofits for 11 months in direct service roles; As an integral part of our program, our community partner nonprofits have the opportunity to build affordable sustainability of their programs or organizations, while mentoring our volunteers and offering real world experience, as they work to help solve community and social justice issues in our city through their service. Hands and Feet of Asheville has historically been an official "Young Adult Volunteer" program site affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Mission agency, and our participants become integral champions and doers in some of our city's most recognizable community support organizations.

In Hands and Feet of Asheville's primary program, serving as the Asheville site of the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer program, the 2023-24 fiscal year included the last month of hosting 2 young adult volunteers here in Asheville, each engaging in 32 hours per week of service for 11 months, from September 2022 through July 2023, totaling more than 1,400 hours of service in local Asheville nonprofit organizations. Their community impact included serving free meals from rescued food donated by local area restaurants each week in the 12 Baskets Cafe, which feeds anyone who shows up, as well as offering a place of community, conversation, and dignity for unhoused and housed Asheville residents alike; and supporting Just Economics programs that encourage and certify local employers to pay a living wage, campaign for and help facilitate affordable housing, and work in Asheville communities to improve public transit opportunities in the city. From August 2023-June 2024, our organization took a rest year from hosting the Young Adult Volunteer program in order to plan for changes in our organizational partnerships, shifting economic forces, and new collaborations. In that time, we hired a new executive director, updated some aspects of our program, and laid the organizational groundwork necessary to host young-adult Hands and Feet Fellows in the 2024-25 program year. As a major shift in our partnerships, Hands and Feet returned to its roots planning for a standalone program no longer connected actively with the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer program. It was a rich year of discernment, planning, and organizing with all these changes in mind.

In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Hands and Feet of Asheville began a fiscal sponsorship relationship with the Young Adult Transformation Collective (YATC), supporting the new initiative formally as a program of Hands and Feet of Asheville as they build toward becoming their own separate organization. Our missions are aligned in that YATC connects, resources, and equips participating locally-led transformation programs for young adults, like Hands and Feet of Asheville. During this fiscal year, the YATC program worked toward developing its structure, transitioning dedicated staff supported by partner organizations to the initiative, starting to develop its network of partners who are supporting young adult nonprofit work experiences with intentional attention to their personal, professional, and spiritual growth at the beginning of their professional lives. The YATC program added two Collective sites in 2023-24 fiscal year, Camp Hanover and Tucson Mennonite Voluntary Service Unit. At these sites and the other Collective sites, young adults not only experienced a year of personal and professional growth, but also spent hundreds of hours serving local communities.
