Mission
THE BROWNSTONE EXPERIENCE FOUNDATION IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION WHOSE PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO INTRODUCE JEWISH EDUCATION AND RAISE JEWISH AWARENESS AND HISTORY TO UNAFFILIATED JEWISH COLLEGIATES AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, USING NEW YORK CITY AS ITS CLASSROOM
-
THE BROWNSTONE EXPERIENCE'S IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION BRINGING TOGETHER UNAFFILIATED JEWISH COLLEGIATE AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS AND AFFILIATIONS AND USING NEW YORK CITY AS AN EXPERIENTIAL CLASSROOM. OUR MISSION IS TO EMPOWER YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN TO SHAPE AND STRENGTHEN THEIR OWN JEWISH IDENTITIES, AND BECOME INNOVATORS AND LEADERS COMMITTED TO SERVING THEIR JEWISH COMMUNITIES. USING NEW YORK CITY AND ITS ATTRACTIONS AS THE DRAWING CARD, PARTICIPANTS PARTAKE IN THE CITY'S RICH AND VIBRANT JEWISH LIFE, AND ITS HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL TREASURES. THROUGH THE MANY DIFFERENT PROGRAMS THAT THE BROWNSTONE OFFERS, PARTICIPANTS ARE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER AND WITH PROGRAM LEADERS IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF TOTAL IMMERSION OF LEARNING. METRO TRIPS OFFERS PARTICIPANTS 10 DAYS OF "IMMERSION EXPERIENCE" WHERE JEWISH ISSUES AND HISTORY ARE EXPLORED. LEADERSHIP WEEKEND RETREATS OFFER PARTICIPANTS A CONDENSED, BUT POWERFUL VERSION OF METRO TRIPS. WE ALSO OFFER YEAR-ROUND CLASSES AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS. CITY TRIPS AND CITY WEEKEND TRIPS TAKE 50 YOUNG JEWISH ADULTS TO THE MIDDLE OF NEW YORK CITY, WHICH REPRESENTS A CITY SHAPED BY IMMIGRANTS OF VARIOUS CULTURAL BACK ROUNDS. FEW GROUPS HAVE LEFT THEIR MARK AS INDELIBLY AS THE JEWISH IMMIGRANTS THAT CAME TO THE SHORES OF NEW YORK. PARTICIPANTS EXPLORE NEW YORK'S CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL TREASURES AND DELVE INTO ISSUES OF JEWISH IDENTITY AND HERITAGE. MOST WEEKENDS ARE THEMED WITH JEWISH IDENTITY AND EXPERIENCE THE HOLY WEEKEND WITH SHABBAT EXPERIENCE THAT TEACHES THE SACRED AND HOLY DAY OF THE SABBATH. THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS USE THE MOST INNOVATIVE METHODS TO TEACH AND HELP THE YOUNG ADULTS EXPLORE THEIR JEWISH CULTURE AND HELP THEM THROUGH THEIR JOURNEY TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES. THE INTERACTION WITH VERY PROMINENT PEOPLE INCLUDING TOP JEWISH PROFESSIONALS, PHILANTHROPISTS, SPIRITUAL LEADERS, LEADING BUSINESS PERSONS, WELL KNOWN FIGURES IN THE ARTS AND CULTURE AND HANDS ON INTERACTIONS WITH THE MANY LARGE JEWISH CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS, (MET COUNCIL, F.E.G.S., WELFARE PROGRAMS OF THE UJA ORGANIZATION), WILL ENABLE THE YOUNG ADULTS TO LEARN AND EDUCATE THEMSELVES ON VARIOUS DIFFERENT LEVELS AND ULTIMATELY LEAD THEM TO CHOSE TO EXPAND THEIR JEWISH IDENTITY AND ENHANCE THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
