Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

Encourage youth to develop their creative potential, empowering both personal and social change through lifelong intentional relationships and art.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Encourage youth to develop their creative potential.

  • Public Arts Programming - Youth Art Team is an actual team of artists who complete exceptional works of art through a process that values student voices in decision-making. Artists ranged in age from 5-18 and attended 20 different schools. More than half faced challenges related to poverty: all projects bridged gaps in opportunities and relationships; activities and transportation were provided at no cost. Youth Art Team provided a framework for each project, walked artists through processes to determine the direction of their work, and included them in planning for its implementation. The Waterloo United basketball uniform design project was the largest public art project in 2025. Youth Art Team coordinated partnerships among 12 different local organizations and businesses to bring this project to life.

    Expenses $51,233 · Revenue $3,067

  • Creative Youth Development - Youth Art Team helped artists navigate adolescence and transition into adulthood. Staff and volunteers worked behind the scenes to address unmet critical needs, providing food, rides, school support, and mentorship. Staff, volunteers, and families saw heightened self-confi dence, improved mental health, and increased participation in extracurricular activities. Artists made project recommendations to staff and informed decisions by serving terms as youth board members with Youth Art Team's Board of Directors. High expectations were set beyond art: artists committed to graduate high school and received support from staff and volunteers in order to do so. Youth Art Team's 2025 senior artists extended the organization's graduation rate to 100% for another year.

    Expenses $48,215

  • Creative Job Training - Youth Art Team employed young artists who received job skills training and additional leadership roles during programming such as summer camps. Youth Art Team offered 29 job shadow experiences, customized to individual artist interests, that unveiled a variety of paths through schooling, whether trade school, associates or bachelors, or straight into work. Young artists received real-world artist experience by selling artwork. Youth Art Team's creative job training programs supported artists who (1) continued along their individual pathways toward high school graduation, (2) identified future employment goals, (3) gained professional experiences, (4) identified future employment goals, and (5) opened new doors for themselves beyond adolescence into adulthood.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
