Mission
The mission of The Hope Center is to help restore what is broken in our world, in our community, and in each of us.
-
Food Pantry - The Hope Center operates a food pantry where guests can expect to find a wide selection of fresh and shelf-stable items to keep their kitchens stocked, as well as herbs and veggies harvested weekly from our farm. We love to connect with pantry guests to find out how else The Hope Center can make a difference in their lives. The food pantry is open every Saturday and serves people throughout northern Illinois.

HOPE Farm sprouted from a simple idea: wouldn't it be wonderful if our food pantry could offer beautifully ripe, nutritious veggies and fruit? We knew the answer, so we got to work Thanks to a committed crew of volunteers, bushels of plump tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, leafy greens, and aromatic herbs are now being harvested weekly. Our growing, small-scale farm is built around a hydroponic greenhouse that lets us farm year-round, sunshine or snow. Outside, rows of raised beds are lush in the summer with soil-grown garden veggies and native prairie plants.

Single Moms, or Thrive, a gathering place for single moms to lift each other up. On Tuesday evenings, women on similar journeys have a chance to share a meal and some candid conversation. Childcare is provided, which gives everyone time to rejuvenate while listening to a speaker, getting spiritual encouragement, or doing a craft together while sharing struggles and victories as single parents. Evenings are often filled with laughter, sometimes tears, and always inspiration to thrive! There is also a group for Spanish-speaking moms, led by a team of Spanish-speaking mentors.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
