Mission and programs · 2025

Primary exempt purpose

Inspiring & empowering people of all ages to connect with nature & build a more sustainable future.

  • School Impact: My Green Earth's School Impact program transforms K-12 schools in Metro Atlanta into hubs of environmental action, equipping students, particularly those in under-resourced and Title I schools, with the knowledge and tools to become lifelong stewards of the planet. Core activities include a Classroom Recycling program, activity-based Environmental Education Lessons, and In-School Field Trips aligned with curriculum standards. All lessons and field trips come with a long-term Impact project where students can apply their knowledge through continuous environmental impact. Since 2022, we have inspired, educated, and empowered more than 11,000 students through school initiatives. In 2025 alone, the Classroom Recycling program diverted 55,000 pounds of recyclable waste from landfills and combined with other School Impact projects, avoided a total of 90 tons of CO2e. My Green Earth (MGE) also collects and redistributes unwanted school supplies to low-income families and provides bilingual materials to serve Spanish-speaking and ESOL students.

    Expenses $12,190

  • Roots of Resilience: Roots of Resilience inspires environmental resilience in both people and the planet by establishing community food forests and other green spaces in or near communities marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution. The program provides students and families with hands-on opportunities to grow fresh food, explore conservation and nutrition, and build practical sustainability skills, with bilingual and culturally responsive materials available for Spanish-speaking participants. To date, My Green Earth has created and sustained three green spaces, distributed 30 free Garden Grow Kits through community workshops, and provided 30 additional kits to low-income, predominantly Spanish-speaking families. An additional 425 kits have been secured to distribute in the coming year. By 2028, the program aims to establish six total green spaces, distribute 850 Garden Grow Kits, and enable families to grow an estimated 12,000 pounds of fresh produce, generating an estimated $45,000 in grocery savings. The program is implemented in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta, the City of Austell, Food Well Alliance, the Austell Community Task Force, and other community partners.

    Expenses $32,025

  • Community Engagement: My Green Earth's Community Engagement program builds an inclusive, sustainability-minded community across Metro Atlanta by hosting social and educational events, providing resources, and partnering with local businesses, civic organizations, and congregations. Activities include Climate & Cocktail socials, Costume Swaps, and Green Fridays. We host specialty recycle/reuse collections, bilingual community workshops, Garden Grow Kit distribution events, and provide subject matter expertise with community partners. Since 2022, 400 community volunteers have contributed 1,200 hours in support of MGE's programs. Through our Specialty Collection programs, we diverted nearly 2000 pounds for an environmental impact of 5.2 tons CO2e, bringing a new life to 2500 like-new school supplies and 700 like-new costumes & accessories.

    Expenses $2,200

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
