Mission

BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES IS DETERMINED AND DEVOTED TO BRINGING RENEWED HOPE TO OUR NATION'S INJURED VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE ORGANIZATION BUILDS OR MODIFIES HOMES, AND GIFTS THEM, MORTGAGE-FREE, TO INJURED VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES, WHILE PROVIDING SUPPORT SERVICES TO ENABLE THEM TO BUILD BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES AND REACH NEW HEIGHTS. IT'S TRULY AN HONOR TO SERVE THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE COURAGEOUSLY SERVED AND SACRIFICED FOR OUR COUNTRY.

  • HOME AWARD PROGRAM: BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES CONSTRUCTS, GIFTS, MODIFIES, AND BEAUTIFIES HOMES FOR INJURED VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, INCLUDING GOLD STAR FAMILIES AND FIRST RESPONDERS ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN ADDITION, WE PROVIDE A GROWING AMOUNT OF SUPPORT SERVICES TO HELP THEM BUILD BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES AND REACH NEW HEIGHTS THEY MAY HAVE NEVER IMAGINED BEFORE. THESE MORTGAGE-FREE HOMES NOT ONLY HELP TO REMOVE THE FAMILY'S FINANCIAL BURDEN, BUT THEY ALSO HELP TO RESTORE THE INDIVIDUAL'S FREEDOM AND ENABLE THE VETERAN TO LEAD A MORE INDEPENDENT AND PRODUCTIVE CIVILIAN LIFE. THESE HOMES ARE CONSTRUCTED, CUSTOMIZED AND BEAUTIFIED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF PHYSICALLY OR PSYCHOLOGICALLY DISABLED VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR DAY-TO-DAY QUALITY OF LIFE AND LEAD TO A HOPEFUL AND PROMISING FUTURE AHEAD. ON AVERAGE, THE ORGANIZATION REACHED THE EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENT OF MORE THAN ONE HOME EVERY 11 DAYS FOR A THIRTEENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR IN 2025. THE ORGANIZATION PLANS TO REACH 50+500+5000 IN 2026: A RECORD 50 HOMES IN 2026, AND NEARLY ONE PER WEEK, INCLUDING OUR MILESTONE 500TH HOME BY CHRISTMAS DAY, WHILE SUPPORTING 5,000 HEROES IN ONE YEAR ALONE. WE'VE FOUND THAT THE GIFT OF A MORTGAGE-FREE HOME PROVIDES PERMANENT STABILITY AND A LIFE-CHANGING FOUNDATION FOR THE VETERAN TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS THAT THEY MIGHT NEVER HAVE IMAGINED FOLLOWING THEIR INJURIES, AND SETS THEM ON A PATH TOWARDS IMPROVING THEIR PHYSICAL HEALTH AND MENTAL WELLNESS ON A LIFELONG ROAD TO RECOVERY AND HAPPINESS. AS WELL, IT'S A GENERATIONAL GIFT THAT ALLOWS THE CHILDREN OF THE FAMILIES TO CREATE STABILITY IN THEIR LIFE AND ONE DAY INHERIT THE HOME, THAT CAN FURTHER IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT FUTURE GENERATIONS AHEAD. IT'S TRULY AN HONOR FOR US TO SERVE THE AMAZING MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE COURAGEOUSLY SERVED AND SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR ALL OF US, WHILE SERVING OUR ENTIRE COUNTRY WITH HONOR.

  • PHYSICAL HEALTH, MENTAL AND FINANCIAL WELLNESS: BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES GOES WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS AND OUR FIRST RESPONDERS BY PROVIDING A FUNDAMENTAL BASIS FOR FAMILY CONNECTIVITY, HOPE AND HEALING, CAMARADERIE, COMMUNICATION AND PROMISE TOWARDS THEIR PHYSICAL HEALTH AND MENTAL WELL-BEING. ONE MAJOR ASPECT OF THIS IN 2025 WAS OUR GROWING PROGRAMS TO HELP WITH PHYSICAL HEALTH AND MENTAL WELLNESS. RANGING FROM TRADITIONAL TO INNOVATIVE SUPPORT, WE WERE ABLE TO SUPPORT MORE THAN 5,000 HEROES IN 2025 ALONE. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, WE SPONSORED HUNDREDS OF WORKSHOPS AND RETREATS ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT TRAINED VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS WITH ESSENTIAL SKILLS THAT AIM TO IMPROVE THEIR EVERYDAY WELL-BEING, THEIR MENTAL HEALTH AND EVERYDAY HEALTH, THEIR PHYSICAL FITNESS, AND THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE. WE HAVE SUPPORTED VETERANS CLIMBING THE WORLD'S TALLEST MOUNTAINS, AND WINNING MEDALS IN THE WARRIOR GAMES, INVICTUS GAMES AND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS. ONE OF OUR BIGGEST EVENTS WE HOSTED IN 2025 WAS OUR 7TH TEAM BUILDING EVENT, BRINGING TOGETHER HUNDREDS OF OUR VETERAN HOME RECIPIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS FOR FOUR DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS OF FAMILY FUN, FRIENDLY COMPETITION, CONNECTIVITY, NEW FRIENDSHIPS AND SPIRITED CAMARADERIE, WHILE CREATING A LASTING SENSE OF HEALING WELL BEYOND THE EVENT ITSELF. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN EXTRAORDINARILY HELPFUL TOWARDS HELPING VETERANS REUNITE AND REGAIN THEIR MILITARY CAMARADERIE WITH THEIR FELLOW SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN AND HELPS THEM UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE NOT DEFINED BY THEIR INJURIES, BUT HOW THEY CAN OVERCOME THEM. WITH MORE SUPPORT, WE HOPE TO FURTHER DEVELOP THIS AMAZING PROGRAM ON A NATIONAL SCALE. WITH RECENT REPORTS INDICATING UP TO 23 VETERAN SUICIDES A DAY, WE RECOGNIZE JUST HOW VITAL THESE PROGRAMS ARE. THEY NOT ONLY SUPPORT OUR VETERANS NOW BUT ALSO HELP PAVE THE WAY FOR A BETTER AND BRIGHTER FUTURE AHEAD FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

  • ATHLETICS + ACADEMICS, EMERGENCY FUNDING AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS: OUR GOAL IS TO ALWAYS EMPOWER OUR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, SO THEY SURVIVE AND THRIVE AHEAD. OUR EMERGENCY FUNDING PROGRAM ENABLES US TO SUPPORT VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS THROUGH DIFFICULT PERIODS AND SUDDEN, LIFE-ALTERING MOMENTS. THESE MOMENTS CAN INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THEIR STRUGGLES, AN ILLNESS, THE LOSS OF A JOB, OR A MAJOR REPAIR NEEDED BY DISASTROUS WEATHER EVENTS SUCH AS HURRICANES, TORNADOES AND FLOODING. THIS PROGRAM HELPS PREVENT LIFE-ALTERING FORECLOSURES AND THE DEVASTATING RISK OF HOMELESSNESS FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING IMMEDIATE SUPPORT TO THOSE WHO ARE ALREADY EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS OR STANDING ON THE BRINK OF IT. ANOTHER MAJOR WAY WE HELP VETERANS IMPROVE THEIR FINANCIAL WELL-BEING IS BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL GUIDANCE TO MAINTAIN HOME EXPENSES AND MAINTAIN THEIR HOMES, AND TO PLAN A SUCCESSFUL FINANCIAL FUTURE AHEAD. TO ACHIEVE THAT END, WE OFFER PARTNERSHIPS WITH CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PROFESSIONALS TO ASSIST THEM THROUGH THEIR FINANCES AND HELP VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOCUS ON LIVING A PROMISING AND PRODUCTIVE LIFE, WHILE ALSO LEARNING ABOUT INVESTING, THE BENEFITS OF COMPOUND INTEREST, AND SAVING FOR THE FUTURE. A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM IS TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF MINIMIZING OR ELIMINATING DEBT ENTIRELY, AND THE FREEDOM IT PROVIDES TO LIVE AN EVER MORE HOPEFUL FUTURE AHEAD. BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES IS ALSO SUPPORTING OUR VETERANS TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR DREAMS IN ATHLETICS AND REPRESENTING THE USA ONCE AGAIN IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, PLUS THEIR GOALS AND WISHES WITH ACADEMICS FOLLOWING THEIR SERVICE. MANY OF OUR VETERANS GO ON TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION WITH OUR ORGANIZATION'S SUPPORT. THESE OPPORTUNITIES HELP RESTORE CONFIDENCE, PROVIDE RENEWED PURPOSE, AND HELP VETERANS REDISCOVER A SENSE OF FULFILLMENT BEYOND THEIR SERVICE. ALL THESE PROGRAMS ARE A LARGE PART OF OUR MISSION TO HELP OUR VETERANS BUILD BETTER AND BRIGHTER LIVES WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND THE GIFTING OF A HOME.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Grants received

The 10 largest by cash amount. The API serves every itemized grant.

Taxable family

From Schedule R Parts I, III and IV: entities that legally are the filer, and taxable partnerships, corporations and trusts it is related to. These record ownership and control, not shared board members or money.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
