Mission

Activities or mission (Part I)

TO ENHANCE, SUPPORT AND STEWARD THE REGION'S MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCES. MANY OF THE PROJECTS WHICH FORTERRA UNDERTAKES IS TO ACHIEVE OUR MISSION THROUGH EFFORTS THAT CAN OFTEN SPAN SEVERAL YEARS. NET REVENUES FROM COMPLETION OF THESE PROJECTS CAN BE REINVESTED TO FUND THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECTS IN FUTURE PERIODS, COVERING NET LOSSES IN YEARS WITH NO SIGNIFICANT PROJECT CLOSINGS.

  • CONSERVATION: FORTERRA'S LANDSCAPE-SCALE APPROACH ENSURES THE CONSERVATION OF CRITICAL LANDS FOR COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE REGION. FORTERRA HAS CONSERVED MORE THAN 280,240 ACRES OF LAND SINCE OUR FOUNDING IN 1989. AT ANY GIVEN TIME, WE ARE WORKING ON DOZENS OF PROJECTS TO CONSERVE LANDS FOR COMMUNITY, HABITAT AND RECREATION. WE KNOW HOW TO WORK QUICKLY AND DECISIVELY TO ENSURE VITAL LANDS ARE NOT LOST BUT WE ALSO KNOW THAT SOME PROJECTS TAKE TIME TO GET RIGHT. THESE INCLUDE THE 4,000-ACRE PORT GAMBLE FOREST WHICH TOOK MORE THAN 10 YEARS AND DEEP COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS TO COMPLETE AND THE ACQUISITION OF 145 ACRES OF CULTURALLY SIGNIFICANT LAND IN CENTRAL WASHINGTON FOR A PLANNED TRIBAL COMMUNITY. SOME PROJECTS ARE SMALL, BUT JUST AS IMPORTANT, LIKE CAMP KILWORTH WHICH IS ONE OF THE LAST UNDEVELOPED SHORELINE HABITATS IN FEDERAL WAY, WASHINGTON. SMALL OR LARGE, THESE PROJECTS ADD UP AND CONTRIBUTE TO A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT AND RESILIENT COMMUNITIES. NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE PROJECT, FORTERRA BRINGS A PURPOSEFUL, INNOVATED AND INTERCONNECTED APPROACH THAT DELIVERS SUCCESS FOR OUR REGION.

    Expenses $5,687,676 · Grants $3,929,789 · Revenue $93,767

WE LEVERAGE OUR LAND HOLDINGS AND WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TOWNS, CITIES, DEVELOPERS, AND COMMUNITIES TO IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURE, HOUSING, AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS. WE HAVE LONGSTANDING AND DEEP RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE REGION. WE UTILIZE OUR DECADES OF EXPERIENCE IN REAL ESTATE, LAND CONSERVATION AND COALITION BUILDING TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO ADDRESS THE SHORTAGE OF ATTAINABLE HOUSING, BENEFIT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITIES, CREATE JOBS, OTHER ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPORT COMMUNITY WELLBEING.

OVER THEIR LIFETIMES, THESE TREES WILL HELP OFFSET HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TONS OF CARBON DIOXIDE. ERP AND ECC HELPS PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS TO RESTORE LOCAL FORESTS AND TREE CANOPIES. SINCE 2009 THESE PROGRAMS HAVE CONSERVED MORE THAN 100,000 ACRES OF FARMS AND WORKING FORESTS BY TRANSFERRING THE DEVELOPMENT RIGHTS OF THESE PROPERTIES TO SUPPORT INTENTIONAL GROWTH IN OUR REGION'S CITIES. TO SUPPORT GROWTH IN CITIES USING TDR, FORTERRA LED THE CREATION OF THE LANDSCAPE CONSERVATION AND LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM (LCLIP), WHICH GIVES CITIES A FINANCIAL INCENTIVE TO PROTECT RESOURCE LANDS AND MAKE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS. The first 25 listed. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
