Mission

JEWELERS OF AMERICA, THE MOST TRUSTED AND INFLUENTIAL VOICE OF THE JEWELRY INDUSTRY, EMPOWERS AND UNITES ITS MEMBERS THROUGH EXPERT GUIDANCE AND ADVOCACY, DRIVING EXCELLENCE, INTEGRITY, AND SUCCESS IN AN EVER-CHANGING MARKETPLACE.

Activities or mission (Part I)

TO EMPOWER JEWELERS WITH ADVOCACY, RESOURCES AND EDUCATION

  • ADVOCACY:SINCE 1906, JEWELERS OF AMERICA (JA) HAS ADVANCED THE FINE JEWELRY INDUSTRY THROUGH ADVOCACY IN PUBLIC, GOVERNMENT, AND INDUSTRY AFFAIRS. JA HAS LONG BEEN A LEADER IN PROMOTING HIGH ETHICAL, SOCIAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS WITHIN THE JEWELRY TRADE. IN 2025, JA INTEGRATED THE OPERATIONS OF MANUFACTURING JEWELERS & SUPPLIERS OF AMERICA (MJSA) AND THE MJSA FOUNDATION TO STRENGTHEN MEMBER SERVICES AND PROVIDE A MORE UNIFIED VOICE FOR THE INDUSTRY. THROUGH THIS INTEGRATION, 631 MJSA MEMBERS WERE BROUGHT INTO THE JA MEMBERSHIP COMMUNITY, EXPANDING JA'S REACH AND ENHANCING ITS ABILITY TO SERVE THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF THE JEWELRY INDUSTRY. IN ADDITION, JA LAUNCHED THE IMPACT INITIATIVE, AWARDING $110,000 IN GRANTS TO SEVEN JEWELRY INDUSTRY ORGANIZATIONS FROM THE $1 MILLION JA INDUSTRY FUND ESTABLISHED IN 2024. THE FUNDING SUPPORTED PROJECTS FOCUSED ON SUSTAINABILITY, INNOVATION, EDUCATION, AND THE CONTINUED GROWTH OF THE JEWELRY INDUSTRY.

  • MEMBER BENEFITS:JEWELERS OF AMERICA PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH A BROAD RANGE OF BENEFITS, INCLUDING BUSINESS RESOURCES, MARKETING TOOLS, DISCOUNT PROGRAMS, EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS, CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES, AND OTHER MEMBER SUPPORT RESOURCES AVAILABLE THROUGH JA'S WEBSITE. IN 2025, JA INTRODUCED COUNTERINTELLIGENCE, A NEW MEMBER BENEFIT AND RETAIL SALES TOOL DESIGNED TO SUPPORT RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATES AND PROVIDE OBJECTIVE, HELPFUL INFORMATION DURING THE CUSTOMER SALES PROCESS. TWO VERSIONS OF THE GUIDE WERE LAUNCHED IN 2025, COVERING NATURAL & LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS AND METALS. THESE RESOURCES STRENGTHENED JA'S MEMBER VALUE PROPOSITION BY HELPING JEWELERS EDUCATE CUSTOMERS, SUPPORT INFORMED PURCHASING DECISIONS, AND IMPROVE THE IN-STORE SALES EXPERIENCE.

  • EDUCATION:JEWELERS OF AMERICA CONTINUED TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS ABOUT FINE JEWELRY THROUGH WEBINARS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, MARKETING, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND IN-PERSON EDUCATION INITIATIVES. IN 2025, 1,152 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED JA WEBINARS, RECEIVING TIMELY EDUCATION ON INDUSTRY TRENDS, BUSINESS PRACTICES, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOPICS. JA ALSO CONDUCTED IN-PERSON LEARNING WORKSHOPS FOR JEWELERS IN ALABAMA, OKLAHOMA, MISSISSIPPI, LOUISIANA, AND GEORGIA. A TOTAL OF 281 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR AND ATTENDED THESE WORKSHOPS, RECEIVING EDUCATION ON CURRENT TOPICS DESIGNED TO HELP THEM OPERATE AND GROW THEIR BUSINESSES. IN ADDITION, JA PROVIDED $51,000 IN SPONSORSHIP FUNDING TO STATE ASSOCIATIONS AND AWARDED 26 SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING $60,000 TO SUPPORT MEMBER EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE JEWELRY INDUSTRY.

The first 25 listed. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Not present in the most recent drop.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
