Primary exempt purpose
Pets Help The Heart Heal's primary purpose is charitable. Within that context, PHTHH provides coordinated programs to assist youth, especially foster kids and youth that are homeless, deal with emotional, psychological, and physical challenges by using the human animal bond. Our outreach programs and support services such as life skills, pet therapy counseling, coping skills, etc. assist those that are underserved and less fortunate. We provide educational opportunities for youth to explore careers including the animal industry, via internships, tours, day camps, and shadow programs. PHTHH establish and engage in any other outreach activities that further nonprofit activities of the organization.

Life of Pets and Jr Vets is our premier program offered in the animal hospital. Youth are able to experience the life of a veterinarian. Each exam room provides educational information on careers in animal industry, animal care, household toxins, common parasites, xray interpretation, and even what happens in surgery. Puppy love sessions are also provided. Dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds are available for bonding and unconditional love. In the Life of Pets and Junior Vets 126 youth attended the program sponsored by the Florida Veterinary Medical Association. Other smaller sessions were offered. Due to the popularity of the program, foster care and other organizations are participating in private sessions for their youth.

Reading with Pets: PHTHH promotes literacy by going to local organizations to read with toddlers, elementary, and high school youth. There are many benefits of reading with pets. For struggling readers, they gain confidence reading to our mascot, Max, an AKC registered sable and white collie. Our team served 371 youth in the Reading program. Program included Career Days at Sunshine Elementary, Flanigan, Castle Hill, and Children Harbor. In addition they participated in Worlf Read Out Loud Day. Themed activities included Thankful Tails, and Holiday Reading for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Reading with Pets is an in-demand program.

Shadow Program: Youth from ages 14 and up can participate in the Shadow Program. The youth volunteer their time to learn more about careers in the animal industry. During their time, they observed doctors, work with the assistant, and have sessions with the animals. We had 17 youth in the program that clocked 847 hours and 30 minutes of volunteer time. The sessions allowed them to gain a better understanding of the human animal bond. They had the opportunity to learn how animals are used in therapy sessions, stress reduction activities, and our signature puppy love sessions.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
