Mission and programs · 2023

Primary exempt purpose

Our mission is to keep Real County beautiful day and night. Our focus is collection of cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastics for recycling, trash cleanups along Highway 83 and 55, trash collection on the Frio and Nueces Rivers, and preservation of the night sky through education on how to limit the effects of lights on our dark skies.

  • We organized the first Frio River trash cleanup in five years. We had approximately 45 volunteers take sections of the river to collect trash. We then had a celebratory BBQ with small awards.

    Expenses $725 · Grants $1,500

  • Each quarter we collected trash along Highways 83 and 55 in Real County. Volunteer numbers ranged from 32 for the 2nd quarter when we had students from the local high school help to earn service hours to as few as 6 for Q3

  • We pulled our recycling trailer to the local Food Bank distribution 10 times, (every month except July and August). We collected cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastics and then drove the trailer to the Utopia Texas recycling center.

  • We participated in Earth Day activities at The Springs resort. We hired a face painter and distibuted information on recycling.

    Expenses $150

As filed on the 2023 return.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
