Mission
See Schedule OThe organization's mission is 1) educating the public and federal, state and local government policymakers regarding the benefits of Managed Care, the coordination and enhancement of quality and accessible health care services and social determinants on health, principally benefiting low-income individuals and individuals eligible for participation under governmental health care programs; and 2) advocating for policies, legislation, regulations and government programs that promote health and improvements through Managed Care, the coordination and enhancement of quality and accessible health care services and social determinants of health, benefiting low-income individuals and individuals eligible for participation under governmental health care programs.
Activities or mission (Part I)
To educate the public and policymakers on the benefits of managed care. CareSource Mission advocates for policies that help improve access to quality health care.
-
CareSource Mission exists to strengthen and support individuals receiving publicly funded healthcare in all aspects of life. This includes advocacy around items such as provider and benefit access, the importance of care management, education, employment, and nutrition. Taken together, they all have an impact in the government funded healthcare space in areas such as low birthweight deliveries, infant mortality, medication utilization and adherence, and emergency department utilization. (Continued on Sch. O)A broader aim of CareSource Mission is to promote and advocate on behalf of the Medicaid managed care system so that it can best and sustainably serve the members who rely on its important and effective services. To accomplish these goals, CareSource Mission develops outreach and education strategies specific to the needs and issues of the states it serves. CareSource Mission will lobby state and local elected officials on Medicaid and related coverage issues and will serve as subject matter experts to policymakers on evidence-based ways to address healthcare access, cost, and outcomes. Over the past couple of years, CareSource Mission has had several meaningful accomplishments including: defending the industry against gold-carding and prior authorization legislation which will inherently increase costs to members and taxpayers, helped drive efforts in multiple states to make sure members are receiving their care through one insurer and expand the availability of Care Management to individuals enrolled in Medicaid. Most recent efforts have centered around ensuring an adequate glidepath on federal Medicaid changes.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Not present in the most recent drop.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
