Mission

The mission of the CBC is to continue to provide training education and information to a community of individuals of all races cultures and creeds who through a myriad of roadblocks have not been able to take advantage of all of the economic opportunities that our society offers to those that are informed and who have been willing to work and learn in creating success and prosperity to themselves and their families.

Activities or mission (Part I)

The Chelsea Black Community CBC is dedicated to transforming the economic social educational health and safety landscapes for all members of the Chelsea and Greater Boston area. By fostering inclusive initiatives and building strategic partnerships CBC works tirelessly to create a vibrant equitable socially and economically thriving community.

  • Our Workforce Development Training and Educational Program was the major focus of our programming and expenditures of approximately $215,292. This included educational classes and skills training in the students most selected and enrolled training programs of Plumbing Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning HVAC and Electricity. At the inception of this program we were the only citywide complete Skilled Trades Training Program. Other local organizations are also recognizing the benefits of implementing this program. We are proud that the majority of our previously enrolled students upon completing their initial coursework and training are advancing to the next level of training through apprenticeships or hands-on work in their chosen field with local unions. One student excelled academically in his electrical class and was awarded $500 serving as a role model. We are proud of his achievement and the excellent training provided by the Peter School often acknowledged as the Best Skills Training Program in the State of Massachusetts. This grant has enabled us to offer training for careers that many students may not have pursued or afforded otherwise. The program not only provides training but also fosters lifelong friendships and the potential for financially secure futures for students and their families.

  • The COVID-19 vaccination program in Massachusetts extended until December 2024. Our organization played a crucial role in administering vaccinations in partnership with the City of Chelseas Health Department the Chelsea Senior Center and Cataldo Ambulance Service. As the program progressed we expanded to include individuals aged six months and older. This initiative not only fostered lasting community connections but also boosted the vaccination rate to over 92% leading to a significant decline in COVID-related deaths in Chelsea. Our collaborative efforts with various Chelsea agencies and boards have resulted in our members now actively participating or volunteering in key city organizations such as the Chelsea Housing Board CAPIC Chelsea City Council Chelsea Chamber of Commerce Veterans Board of Revere Green Roots and ROCA. By engaging with these entities we continue to support and advocate for the community effectively. Our involvement in vaccinating individuals aged six months and above was instrumental in reducing the impact of the disease and we are proud to have contributed to this important cause.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
