THE GECU FOUNDATION WORKS TO SUPPORT GECU'S MISSION, GOALS & THE CREDIT UNION MOVEMENT BY SUPPORTING CHARITABLE CAUSES FOCUSING ON TWELVE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES THAT AFFECT OUR COMMUNITY.
-
THE GECU FOUNDATION IS THE PHILANTHROPIC ARM OF THE GECU THAT OPERATES TO ELEVATE THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE AND THE CREDIT UNION MOVEMENT THROUGH STRATEGIC AND CHARITABLE GIVING. THE GECU FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON 12 DEVELOPMENT ISSUES THAT AFFECT OUR COMMUNITIES: HEALTH, HUNGER, HOUSING, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, TRANSPORTATION, CREDIT, SAVINGS, TECHNOLOGY, EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSION, DIVERSITY AND EQUITY. THE GECU FOUNDATION WAS HONORED TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT FOCUS ON IMPORTANT ISSUES, SUCH AS EDUCATION, HEALTH, HUNGER, AND OTHER CHALLENGES THAT IMPACT THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE THROUGHOUT TEXAS AND NEW MEXICO.
Expenses $532,354 · Grants $190,198
-
THE GECU FOUNDATION PROUDLY CONTINUED ITS COMMITMENT TO INVESTING IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE ACROSS EL PASO, TEXAS, AND SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THE FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN 1 MILLION IN PHILANTHROPIC GIVING TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND INITIATIVES ALIGNED WITH OUR 12 CORE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES. EDUCATION REMAINED A CENTRAL FOCUS OF OUR CHARITABLE GIVING BECAUSE WE BELIEVE ACCESS TO EDUCATION CREATES OPPORTUNITY, EMPOWERS INDIVIDUALS, AND STRENGTHENS COMMUNITY RESILIENCE THROUGH INVESTMENTS IN SCHOLARSHIPS, CAREER READINESS PROGRAMS, AND INITIATIVES THAT EXPAND ACCESS TO LEARNING AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. WE WERE ALSO PROUD TO SUPPORT NEW ORGANIZATIONS, FURTHER EXTENDING OUR REACH ACROSS THE REGION, INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO AND WINGS FOR L.I.F.E. IN ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO.
Expenses $361,724 · Grants $361,724
-
OUR COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION REFLECTS OUR BELIEF THAT LEARNING OPENS DOORS AND ELEVATES COMMUNITIES. THIS YEAR, WE CONTINUED INVESTING IN SCHOLARSHIPS, CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, AND EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES THAT HELP STUDENTS PURSUE THEIR ACADEMIC GOALS WHILE PREPARING FOR MEANINGFUL CAREERS. BEYOND EDUCATION, WE REMAINED DEDICATED TO ELEVATING THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE BY SUPPORTING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE WORK ADVANCES OUR 12 CORE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES. THROUGH THESE PARTNERSHIPS, WE CONTINUE INVESTING IN PROGRAMS THAT STRENGTHEN INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND NEIGHBORHOODS WHILE CREATING LASTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITIES WE PROUDLY SERVE.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
