Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

WE HELP LOCAL FAMILIES BATTLING WITH CANCER, ENHANCE CANCER TREATMENT IN THE FOX VALLEY AREA OF WISCONSIN, AND FUND CANCER RESEARCH IN WISCONSIN.

Activities or mission (Part I)

HELP LOCAL FAMILIES BATTLING WITH CANCER, ENHANCE CANCER TREATMENT, AND FUND CANCER RESEARCH.

  • THE SPIERINGS CANCER FOUNDATION FAMILY GRANT PROGRAM SUPPORTS CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES ACROSS BROWN, CALUMET, OUTAGAMIE, WINNEBAGO, AND WAUPACA COUNTIES WHO ARE FACING FINANCIAL HARDSHIP DUE TO CANCER. TREATMENT BRINGS BOTH INCREASED EXPENSES AND REDUCED INCOME, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO AFFORD EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS. THESE GRANTS EASE THE EVERYDAY COSTS THAT QUICKLY ADD UP DURING CANCER TREATMENT, SUCH AS HOUSING, UTILITIES, TRANSPORTATION, AND GROCERIES. GUIDED BY JIM SPIERINGS' BELIEF THAT NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE, THIS PROGRAM IS A WAY FOR NEIGHBORS TO TAKE CARE OF NEIGHBORS, ENSURING LOCAL FAMILIES HAVE ONE LESS WORRY ON THEIR PLATE WHILE FACING CANCER.

    Expenses $292,424 · Grants $280,071

  • THE SPIERINGS CANCER FOUNDATION ENHANCING CANCER TREATMENT GRANT PROGRAM IMPROVES ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY CANCER CARE IN OUR REGION BY WORKING CLOSELY WITH LOCAL CANCER CENTERS. WE PARTNER WITH PROVIDERS TO UNDERSTAND GAPS IN CARE AND FUND SOLUTIONS THAT MAKE AN IMPACT FOR PATIENT CARE. SUPPORT HAS INCLUDED NURSE NAVIGATION PROGRAMS, ADVANCED EQUIPMENT THAT CAN REDUCE THE NEED FOR INVASIVE PROCEDURES, AND EXPANDED SURVIVORSHIP SERVICES. BY STRENGTHENING LOCAL CANCER CARE, THE PROGRAM HELPS ENSURE PATIENTS CAN RECEIVE THE TREATMENT THEY NEED CLOSE TO HOME WHICH REDUCES, STRESS, COST, AND BURDEN OF TRAVELING LONG DISTANCES DURING CANCER TREATMENT.

    Expenses $114,851 · Grants $110,000

  • THE SPIERINGS CANCER FOUNDATION CANCER RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM INVESTS IN WISCONSIN-BASED CANCER RESEARCH TO DRIVE PROGRESS CLOSE TO HOME. MANY OF OUR GIFTS SERVE AS SEED FUNDING, GIVING RESEARCHERS THE RESOURCES TO BEGIN INNOVATIVE PROJECTS THAT HOLD SIGNIFICANT PROMISE FOR IMPROVING CANCER TREATMENT AND CARE. BY KEEPING RESEARCH DOLLARS IN OUR STATE, WE STRENGTHEN WISCONSIN'S MEDICAL COMMUNITY AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR DISCOVERIES THAT WILL BENEFIT PATIENTS AND FAMILIES RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACKYARD.

    Expenses $20,882 · Grants $20,000

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
