Public Nature Areas - Protecting and enhancing the conservation values of lands acquired by the Trust is some of the most important work in which the Trust is involved. It is the responsibility of the Stewardship Program to protect conservation values and to be a good neighbor and community member for all Trust properties through science-based management. The Trust evaluates every property for its conservation value, the threats to these values, and for opportunities to enhance conservation values through responsible management.
Expenses $181,088
-
Conservation - The Trust conserves the most important and threatened land using all the tools of private, voluntary land conservation. The Trust works exclusively with willing landowners to find ways to conserve, forever, the scenic and natural values of the land and water. Landowners donate or sell a conservation interest in their land, such as development rights or full ownership, to the Trust. The Trust manages the land under a stewardship plan and, if necessary, legally defends its conservation values. The Trust also identifies priority conservation lands to purchase. Further, the Trust conserves working forest and agricultural land for the purpose of keeping the land in resource production. The Trust conserved 56,538 acres.

EDUCATION - Southern Conservation Trust provides hands-on environmental education programs that connect people of all ages with the natural world. Each year, more than 3,500 students participate in educational experiences at the Trust's approximately 14-acre Nature Center campus in downtown Fayetteville, Georgia. Programming includes curriculum-aligned field trips, in-school outreach, monthly public education programs, multi-week summer camps, and customized STEM-based learning experiences led by experienced environmental educators. The Nature Center features live animal ambassadors and interactive exhibits that foster environmental stewardship through immersive learning. Southern Conservation Trust also partners with municipalities to expand environmental education opportunities throughout neighboring communities and collaborates with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta to provide outdoor education and leadership experiences. Through these initiatives, the Trust inspires lifelong appreciation for nature while supporting classroom learning and conservation awareness.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
