Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

HIGHLINE SCHOOLS FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1999 TO HELP BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN WHAT THE STATE OF WASHINGTON PROVIDES OUR DISTRICT AND WHAT IS NEEDED FOR OUR STUDENTS, FAMILIES, STAFF AND TEACHERS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS.

Activities or mission (Part I)

UNITING COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR INNOVATIVE AND EQUITABLE LEARNING ACROSS HIGHLINE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

  • SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM GRANTS: THE FOUNDATION GRANTS TEACHERS, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATORS THE FUNDS THEY NEED TO SUPPORT UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS THAT STATE FUNDING CANNOT PROVIDE. WE SUPPORT ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCES THAT EXPAND THE LEARNING PROCESS AND ACTIVELY ENGAGE STUDENTS. OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS WITH THE RESOURCES THEY NEED TO HELP OUR STUDENTS BE SUCCESSFUL. THE GRANTS WE SELECT TRY TO REACH THE MOST STUDENTS AND DISTRICT SCHOOLS POSSIBLE. THE FOUNDATION GRANTS ALSO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS AND PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE GRADUATION RATES FOR STUDENTS IN HIGHLINE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. MORE THAN 75% OF HIGHLINE SCHOOLS APPLIED FOR AND RECEIVED FUNDING THROUGH OUR GRANTS PROGRAMS THIS YEAR, WITH 51 GRANTS FUNDED AND A TOTAL OF $100,000 AWARDED.

    Expenses $420,386 · Grants $420,386

  • STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS: MORE THAN TWO-THIRDS OF HIGHLINE PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS LIVE IN POVERTY. OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SUPPORT STUDENTS WHOSE FAMILIES ARE STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY OR ARE HOMELESS (MCKINNEY-VENTO). THIS INCLUDES BASIC NEEDS SUPPORT (FOOD, CLOTHING, AND SHOES), BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES, PROM WEAR FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT SO THAT STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE ON THEIR SCHOOLS' SPORTS TEAMS, AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR STUDENTS WHO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN BAND OR ORCHESTRA BUT CANNOT AFFORD INSTRUMENT PURCHASE OR RENTAL. WE PROVIDED ACCESS TO MORE THAN $82,000 IN DONATED ATHLETICS EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES, $21,000 IN FOOD AND CLOTHING SUPPORT, AND $36,977.00 IN SCHOOL SUPPLIES.

    Expenses $424,348 · Grants $75,584

  • Withheld by Nonprofiteer: this text may name a private individual.

    Expenses $369,054 · Grants $369,054

As filed on the 2025 return. A text marked withheld matched a screen for wording that may name a private individual, such as an honorific or "in memory of". Most of what it withholds names no one; it is withheld so that what does is never shown.

Officers and directors · 2025

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
