Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

CAVALRY's mission is to build equitable pathways from education to employment by connecting K-12 and higher education, employers, and community and workforce partners through a coordinated workforce development ecosystem. We expand access to career-connected education, work-based learning, industry-recognized credentials, pre-apprenticeships, registered apprenticeships, and employment opportunities that equip individuals with the skills and experience needed for economic mobility while helping employers develop the talent they need.

Activities or mission (Part I)

CAVALRY is a nonprofit organization that builds workforce ecosystems by bringing together education, employers, workforce agencies, nonprofits, and community partners to develop innovative career pathways that prepare individuals for meaningful careers and economic mobility. Through collaborative partnerships, CAVALRY expands access to career exploration, dual credit, industry-recognized credentials, work-based learning, apprenticeships, career coaching, and employment opportunities. By aligning the needs of learners, educators, employers, and communities, CAVALRY strengthens regional talent pipelines while helping individuals achieve long-term economic self-sufficiency.

  • CAVALRY is a veteran-led nonprofit workforce intermediary and U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship sponsor that connects K-12 and higher education, employers, and community and workforce partners to create accessible pathways from education to employment. CAVALRY expands access to career-connected education, work-based learning, industry-recognized credentials, pre-apprenticeships, registered apprenticeships, and employment opportunities designed to increase economic mobility while helping employers develop the skilled talent they need. During the year, CAVALRY continued to expand its workforce development model by connecting education, industry-recognized credentials, real-world work experience, and employment. Building on its established Project Management pathway, CAVALRY began developing and implementing two additional career pathways in Accounting/Financial Management and Supply Chain. This expansion enables CAVALRY to provide participants with access to multiple professional career pathways while responding to employer and regional workforce needs. CAVALRY's traditional workforce development and apprenticeship programming continued to demonstrate strong outcomes, achieving a 91% industry certification pass rate and a 91% job placement rate. Participants develop technical and transferable skills through structured career preparation, pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship experiences, mentorship, industry-recognized credential preparation, work-based learning, and real-world projects. These outcomes demonstrate CAVALRY's focus not simply on training participation, but on helping participants translate education, credentials, and professional experience into meaningful employment and greater economic mobility. CAVALRY also operated Generation E (Gen E), its middle school career exploration and workforce readiness initiative, at a Title I school during the year. Gen E introduces students to career pathways and helps them begin developing professional and transferable skills through hands-on, project-based learning and early career exposure. The program helps students understand the connection between education, skills, industry credentials, work experience, and future career opportunities. By beginning this exposure in middle school, Gen E serves as an early entry point into CAVALRY's broader education-to-employment continuum. CAVALRY also continued development of its Degree-Based Apprenticeship model, designed to integrate postsecondary education with work-based learning, industry-recognized credentials, mentorship, and progressively responsible employment experiences. The model builds upon CAVALRY's existing apprenticeship experience to create a connected pathway that can begin with career exploration in middle school, progress through high school career preparation, pre-apprenticeship and dual-credit opportunities, and continue into college, registered apprenticeship, and employment. The model is designed to enable participants to simultaneously progress toward academic credentials, develop professional experience, earn industry-recognized credentials, and build meaningful connections with employers. As its programming has expanded, CAVALRY has also strengthened its role as a workforce intermediary, working across education, industry, and the community to help close gaps between education and employment. CAVALRY collaborates with school districts, colleges and universities, employers, professional associations, nonprofits, and workforce and community organizations to identify workforce needs, develop career-connected and work-based learning opportunities, support talent development, and strengthen connections between students and employers. Employer and community partners contribute through mentorship, career exposure, project-based learning, workforce feedback, work-based learning, and employment opportunities. Through this collaborative ecosystem approach, CAVALRY is building a continuum from early career exposure to education, credentials, work experience, apprenticeship, and employment. The organization works to reduce barriers between education and employment, expand access to meaningful and paid work-based learning opportunities, strengthen regional talent pipelines, and equip participants with the education, credentials, experience, professional networks, and transferable skills necessary for long-term economic mobility and financial self-sufficiency.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
