Mission
THE BILLIE JEAN KING LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE BELIEVES THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL HAS THE POTENTIAL TO LEAD. THROUGHOUT COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS ALL OVER THE WORLD, LEADERSHIP TENDS TO BE HOMOGENEOUS, BUT IF THOSE IN POSITIONS OF POWER ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR GLOBALIZING WORLD, FRESH IDEAS, DIVERSE TALENT, AND AN INCLUSIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT CANNOT PROSPER. THE STATUS QUO IS ALREADY SHIFTING, AS PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS ARE BEING RECOGNIZED AND PROMOTED FOR THEIR VARIED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, AND VIEWPOINTS. BUT MORE MUST BE DONE. AT THE BJKLI, WE ARE WORKING HARD TO REIMAGINE THE IMAGE OF LEADERSHIP NOT JUST IN BOARDROOMS AND CORNER OFFICES, BUT ALSO AT CUBICLES AND DESKS AROUND THE WORLD. INDIVIDUALS MUST FEEL FREE AND ABLE TO BRING THEIR AUTHENTIC SELVES TO WORK EVERY SINGLE DAY. WE ARE CREATING A MOVEMENT WHERE DIVERSE TALENT IS PROMOTED AND CELEBRATED, FROM THE TOP DOWN AND THE BOTTOM UP. WITH YOUR HELP, WE CAN LIFT, WE CAN LEARN, AND WE CAN LEAD.
Activities or mission (Part I)
THE BILLIE JEAN KING LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE IS AN AMBITIOUS AND MOTIVATED ENDEAVOR WHOSE SOLE FOCUS IS TO MOVE THE NEEDLE ON ISSUES IMPACTING DIVERSE TALENT GLOBALLY. WE PLAN TO IGNITE A TRANSFORMATION IN THE CONVERSATION THROUGH THREE PRIMARY PILLARS OF LEADERSHIP: LIFT THROUGH ACTION AND ADVOCACY, LEARN THROUGH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION, AND LEAD THROUGH INSIGHT AND EMPOWERMENT.
-
LIFT - CONVENE GLOBAL FORUMS EDUCATING WOMEN AND MEN ON THE CRITICAL ISSUES SURROUNDING THE IMPORTANCE OF INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP, AND THE ROLE EVERY INDIVIDUAL PLAYS IN DRIVING CHANGE. PROMOTE AND FACILITATE PLATFORMS FOR CONVERSATION AND ACTION ACROSS ALL LEVELS OF AN ORGANIZATION.LEARN - AS MILLENNIALS ARE NOW THE MAJORITY OF THE WORKFORCE, THE BILLIE JEAN KING LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE (BJKLI) SOUGHT TO ANALYZE HOW THIS GROUP'S LEADERSHIP STYLES ARE TRANSFORMING BUSINESS. OUR RESEARCH ANALYZED THREE YEARS OF DATA COLLECTED BY OUR RESEARCH PARTNER, DELOITTE. OUR REPORT DEMONSTRATED THAT PURPOSE-DRIVEN MILLENNIALS SEEK INNOVATION AND COLLABORATION, WITH ROOM TO SPEARHEAD THEIR OWN CAREER PATHS. LEAVING BEHIND "THE WAY WE'VE ALWAYS DONE IT," MILLENNIALS ARE FINDING THEIR OWN WAY.A META-ANALYSIS OF SIX ROBUST DATA SOURCES WAS PERFORMED TO IDENTIFY INSIGHTS AND TRENDS ON WORKPLACE CULTURE, THE IMPACT GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES HAVE ON CULTURE, AND THE EXTENT TO WHICH THESE OUTCOMES VARY ACROSS THE GLOBE.OUR RESEARCH IS INSPIRING AND EMPOWERING ORGANIZATIONS TO ADAPT TO THE NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS ACROSS ALL GENERATIONS.THE FINDINGS IN THIS PAPER HAVE IDENTIFIED AN UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY TO SHIFT OUR CULTURES IN A WAY THAT INCREASES ENGAGEMENT AND PRODUCTIVITY FOR MEMBERS OF ALL GENERATIONS. LEAD - HOST A BIENNIAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GLOBAL CORPORATE LEADERS AND UNIVERSITIES, FOCUSED ON THE EMPOWERMENT, AUTHENTICITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF GLOBAL TALENT. IGNITE A DIALOGUE ON 21ST CENTURY POWER DYNAMICS AND THEIR IMPACT ON INCLUSION, LEADERSHIP, AND TALENT DEVELOPMENT.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
