Mission
ATC's mission is to create world-class theatre about what it means to be alive today - inspiring curiosity and creativity, sparking empathy and joy - bringing all Arizonans together.
-
Setting the gold standard for artistic excellence and innovation, ATC is Arizona's sole LORT (League of Resident Theatres) professional nonprofit regional theatre. Guided by the vision of Executive Director Geri Wright and Kasser Family Artistic Director Matt August, each season, we assemble a team of world-class artists dedicated to delivering exceptional theatrical experiences in both the Tucson and Phoenix metropolitan communities. Our impact transcends the stage. With a commitment to outreach, education, and community engagement, ATC connects with over 130,000 patrons annually through mainstage productions, student matinees, and community initiatives - including our National Latine Playwrights Award and Festival. We believe in the transformative power of art, and our education programs ignite young minds, sow seeds of inspiration, and cultivate the artists and audiences of tomorrow.

The Arizona Theatre Company Academy extends quality theatre arts programming to Arizona students through our student matinee program. In the 2022-23 season alone, ATC positively impacted the lives of over 3,200 students through this initiative.ATC's student matinee program ensures theater access for a diverse range of students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. We offer one-dollar tickets to Title I school and affordable tickets to all other student populations. Following the matinee performances, engaging panel discussions brimming with insightful information allow students to pose questions to the artistic team and actors. ATC also provides show-specific educator resources and study guides at no additional cost.

Our community engagement initiatives are integral to establishing ATC as a crucial community cultural resource. Our diverse range of activities encompasses audience engagement programs, active participation in local festivals and events, and the continual enhancement of our community presence. Furthermore, each of our productions features special nights, such as Community Night, Pride Night, and Teacher Preview Night, offering reduced-priced tickets to community members. This initiative is designed to ensure our season is accessible to everyone. Additionally, ATC actively collaborates with over 50 community organizations, local businesses, and non-profits, creating valuable partnerships that contribute to engagement, elevate brand awareness, and thoughtfully support the well-being of the communities we serve through literacy drives and medical awareness spotlights for conditions which may be part of our many storylines.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
