Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

The American Immigration Lawyers Association is the national association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.

Activities or mission (Part I)

The American Immigration Lawyers Association promotes justice, advocates for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advances the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhances the professional development of its members.

  • In 2024, we held two large continuing legal educational (CLE) conferences in two different cities. Our attendance ranges from 100 (Fall Conference) to 250 (Spring conference). We also held monthly CLE virtual webinars throughout the year. We do this to provide legal education to our members who work in the field of Immigration Law. We also supported the 2024 National Day of Action in Washington DC where our members appeared in person in Washington DC to advocate for fair immigration laws. Finally, we made several donations to other non-profit organizations that provide much needed services to low-income immigrants.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
