Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

To assist people with co-occurring mental health and substance use diagnoses, who benefit from a support system in a community living setting, with the primary goal of moving on to continue their recovery process in a more independent living situation.

Activities or mission (Part I)

To assist people with mental and developmental disabilities.

  • The Pennsylvania Institute for Community Living (PICL) offers a 15-bed modified therapeutic community residence for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. It is a subsidiary of Resources for Human Development (RHD) and works with the Montgomery County Mental Health Department. This transitional program offers integrated self-help, recovery-oriented treatment along with case management, 24-hour staffing, vocational services and placement in permanent housing. Situated in a residence reminiscent of a turn of the century farmhouse, Grove House residents have a unique opportunity for rehabilitation and recovery. Each resident decides, with PICL staff guidance, what they want to accomplish while in the program. These goals range from getting and staying off substance, to feeling good emotionally, to gaining employment and obtaining an apartment, to reuniting with their family. It usually takes 12 to 18 months for residents to reach their goals and incorporate recovery into their life.

    Expenses $1,031,839 · Revenue $62,132

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
