Mission

THERAPY FOR THE HANDICAPPED AND PROVIDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES.

  • The 2022 year has been a learning experience for ARCH.ARCH continued to help a disabled family that lost their home during a fire and were struggling financially. They are still waiting for their settlement from the company that caused the fire, but it continues to be a long uphill struggle with many court date extensions and no solution. ARCH has been able to provide a place for them to stay, free of charge, and they are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Little did ARCH know that it too would experience the terror of being in the path of a forest fire. In September of 2022 the therapy riding program was suspended because a fire in the area continued to get closer and closer to the ARCH facility. Notice was given by the Sheriffs Department to evacuate quickly. Horses were loaded and taken to a safe location. Staff, volunteers, and two board members were also told that containment of the fire was not possible at this time and that everyone had to leave as the fire was within a mile of our location and the winds were picking up. We were evacuated for a week, not knowing whether we still had a place to come home to. A hurricane off the coast of Mexico provided a much needed rain and helped to slow the fire and change the direction of its progress. Smoke and ash were everywhere. As the fire became more and more contained, ARCH board members were able to return to check out the property. The ARCH facility was spared the devastation that it feared would happen if the fire had been able to continue on its path. Board members agreed that it would be okay to bring back the horses, but not the volunteers yet as the smoke was still heavy in the area. Three horses returned and settled in, but were displaying illness symptoms. The vet was called, but was on other emergency calls and wasnt able to get through the closed roads due to the fire still being active. All three horses died within hours of each other. An animal autopsy could not be performed due to our not being able to transport the horses to a site where the service could be done. We sent food samples to UC Davis to see if it could have been the cause. They said that the food was not contaminated. ARCH is still working on checking water samples and well contamination. No conclusion has been found as to why they died so quickly. The ARCH board agreed that it was best for the time to shut down the therapy program until it would be safe for the program to continue. In the mean time, ARCH will continue to provide affordable housing for low income families through 84 New ETHIC LLC.ARCH realizes that housing for the disabled is a much needed item, and has been trying to work towards the goal of providing this. Most facilities can be found to house low income people, but not housing for the needs of the disabled. Our mission to fund this, is still a work in progress. ARCH hopes the 2023 year will bring prosperity and vision

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
