Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- Part I, Line 1a
- During calendar year 2024 the National Gallery's Director traveled first class on two bona-fide business trips in accordance with the National Gallery's travel policy. The National Gallery maintains an accountable plan for travel reimbursements that meets IRS requirements; therefore no portion of the benefits was treated as taxable compensation to the Director.
- Part I, Line 4b
- Line 4b The National Gallery had in place a supplemental executive retirement plan benefit for the Director, Kaywin Feldman. The plan vested on April 1, 2024 after five years of employment. In accordance with the terms of the lan agreement the benefit of $1,000,000 was paid and included in the Director's reportable compensation for tax year 2024. This benefit was accrued annually over the five year period and reported in prior years as deferred compensation on Schedule J and Part VII. The National Gallery put in place a new supplemental executive retirement plan benefit for the Director, Kaywin Feldman. The plan vests on April 1, 2029 in the form of a lump sum payment, provided that all of the terms and conditions of the agreement are met, including that the Director is employed by the National Gallery as of the vesting date, or in the event that the National Gallery terminates her employment prior to such vesting, under certain circumstances, a pro-rated benefit will be paid. $200,000 was accrued under the benefit plan this year.
Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
