Mission
The mission of the Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay is to develop and connect nonprofit leaders to strengthen organizations and our community. Our training is conducted by subject matter experts in all areas of nonprofit operations (continued on Schedule O) with expertise in the areas of board governance, fund development, financial management, as well as marketing and communications. We audition our instructors to ensure that they are not only subject matter experts but also highly effective communicators in their area of specialty. Our goal is to help nonprofits operate in such a way as to improve their capacity to be effective, impactful, and sustainable thereby improving the lives of the individuals they serve. The more knowledgeable a nonprofit's board and staff are, the higher the likelihood that they will be able to leverage their resources for life changing impact and mission achievement.
Activities or mission (Part I)
To develop and connect nonprofit leaders to strengthen organizations and our community.
-
We believe in the power of nonprofits to create lasting change through skilled leadership and continuous learning. Our mission is to develop confident leaders who advance effective and sustainable nonprofits, strengthening the Tampa Bay community. Through specialized training, cohort-based learning, our annual conference, and coaching programs, we equip nonprofit professionals and board members at every level with the knowledge and tools to drive impact. Thanks to our fund partners, we make high-quality professional development and leadership programming accessible, reducing the average cost per student $288 to just $89 per four-hour class for example, ensuring more leaders can invest in their growth and success. (Contiued on Schedule O)In 2024, we offered 3,743 student learning experience to 2,191 unique students serving 554 unique organizations. We offer certificate programs, peer exchange groups, and training in key areas such as nonprofit management, leadership, board governance, and financial management. Our cohort-based solutions are high-impact and include: Inclusive Board Fellowship, which prepares professionals to serve effectively on nonprofit boards, Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, offered in partnership with the University of Tampa, providing a strong foundation in nonprofit leadership, Certificate in Leadership, designed to support succession planning and advance new nonprofit leaders into executive roles, CEO Leadership Circle, an exclusive program that supports nonprofit chief executives through peer learning and expert facilitation. Programs are delivered in-person in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco (in 2024) counties or virtually, led by industry experts. Our training is highly rated, averaging 4.8 out of 5, and we measure success through student attendance, participant satisfaction, and nonprofit engagement in capacity-building initiatives. In 2023, we launched a new intended impact statement and enhanced performance metrics to strengthen our strategic direction and validate outcomes. We are in the second year of reporting data related to that new strategy. Nonprofit Leadership Center delivers high-quality, accessible training designed to equip nonprofit professionals with the skills and strategies to navigate real-world challenges. Through expert-led learning, peer collaboration, and tailored development programs, we provide practical solutions that empower individuals and organizations to thrive and lead with confidence. NLC remains agile in responding to the evolving needs of nonprofit organizations, guided by formal surveys, program feedback, and direct input from leaders across the sector.1. Expanded learning solutions strengthening its HR Roundtable and offering a lead development officer roundtable to better support C-suite leaders. 2. Additionally, our Certificate in Leadership program, designed to support succession planning and the advancement of nonprofit professionals into executive roles, experienced record participation in two cohorts. 3. Impact strategy & measurement enhancements were optimized, realigning metrics, surveys, and qualitative interviews with nonprofit leaders across the region. These efforts ensure our programming remains data-driven and responsive to sector needs. 4. NLC conducted a comprehensive impact study in 2024 reviewing the first 15 years of our partnership with the University of Tampa's Certificate in Nonprofit Management. This analysis, funded by a designated grant, validates the long-term success of nonprofit professionals who have completed the program.5. In 2024, NLC launched an enhanced Impact Report to assess the outcomes and effectiveness of our 2023 programming, providing critical insights into participant progress, knowledge retention, and nonprofit capacity-building. NLC continues to prioritize internal development, including conducting compensation and benefits studies, investing in staff training and certification, and ensuring sustained leadership excellence.6. NLC remains committed to delivering data-informed, high-quality learning experiences that equip nonprofit professionals with the skills, confidence, and connections to lead effective, sustainable organizations.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
