Mission
The National Women's Affordable Housing Network (NAT'L WAHN), a women-led organization that welcomes the support of allies, is dedicated to advancing women's leadership in the affordable housing sector. Guided by our four pillarsLearn, Connect, Strengthen, and Advocate. we provide targeted education, foster meaningful connections, and cultivate workplace equity for all. Through nationwide chapters, including those at colleges and universities, we advocate for impactful change by sharing ideas, building community, and driving the affordable housing movement forward.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Our Vision is to build a national network of people by opening a chapter in every state with a shared passion for affordable housing, the empowerment of women, and equity in the workplace for all.

Expansion of Chapters NationwideIn less than three years, the National Women's Affordable Housing Network (WAHN) has achieved a remarkable milestone with the establishment of 27 chapters across the United States. WAHN has created over 140 leadership positions for women in the affordable housing industry. This rapid expansion underscores WAHN's proactive approach in addressing the critical need for supporting women leaders who are advocating for safe, comfortable affordable housing for all neighbors. Each chapter, guided by our comprehensive board-led training program, undergoes a structured journey comprising four meticulously crafted courses. These courses equip local leaders with essential tools, practical examples, customizable templates, and expert guidance necessary to effectively initiate and sustain their operations. Emphasizing individual chapter autonomy while adhering to a cohesive national vision, WAHN ensures that every community can tailor its initiatives to local needs, thereby maximizing impact and sustainability. Moreover, WAHN has invested in continuous education for its board members through a specialized Board of Director Leadership series. This monthly program, facilitated by a dedicated consulting team, not only enhances governance skills but also fosters a robust network of empowered female leaders. In an environment where gender parity remains a challenge (with only about 16% of board directors nationwide being women), WAHN's commitment to professional development serves as a catalyst for broader societal change. We firmly believe that these initiatives not only strengthen WAHN's governance but also position our leaders to excel in their current roles and beyond, influencing diversity and inclusivity in boardrooms nationwide.

Establishment of the Ally CommitteeRecognizing that true progress towards equity requires inclusive collaboration, WAHN has pioneered the Ally Committee initiative. This groundbreaking effort aims to accelerate gender equality by engaging male allies in meaningful dialogue and action. By advocating for systemic changes and amplifying underrepresented voices in spaces traditionally dominated by men, the Ally Committee serves as a pivotal force in reshaping societal norms and promoting inclusive environments.WAHN's approach extends beyond building physical homes to nurturing supportive ecosystems where women can thrive. Just as affordable housing is incomplete without empowering residents to access better opportunities, gender equality initiatives must actively involve men in advocating for change. The Ally Committee thus champions a dual-pronged strategy: supporting women in realizing their potential while enlisting male allies to broaden the discourse on gender equality in spheres where women are historically underrepresented.

Equity for All in the Industry and Workplace WAHN has taken a proactive stance in Equity for All in the Industry and Workplace through targeted educational initiatives. Leveraging virtual platforms, professional consultants have conducted comprehensive courses that not only raise awareness but also empower organizations both within and beyond the nonprofit sector to enact meaningful change. These virtual classes serve as catalysts for immediate action, illustrating practical steps that organizations of all sizes can undertake to foster more inclusive cultures. By sharing success stories and highlighting tangible outcomes, WAHN inspires a paradigm shift towards greater equity and inclusion. This proactive engagement transcends organizational boundaries, advocating for systemic changes that resonate across industries and communities.

The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
