  • OPERATION SCHOOL BELLWorking in partnership with the El Dorado County Office of Education and local retail outlets the Assistance League of Sierra Foothills provides new school clothing for disadvantaged students ages 5-18 in El Dorado County. Additionally, each student is given an age-appropriate book. Too often this is the first book some of the children have ever owned.Beyond providing much needed clothing, this signature program improves self-esteem and fosters positive attitudes toward school attendance.Due to the closure of the only suitable retailer in the South Lake Tahoe area of El Dorado County. the Operation School Bell Team partnered with J.C. Penny to provide new school clothes to students in this area. Pennys advised the team of what was available, a catalogue was made, orders were placed by the students and their families, merchandise was shipped to Assistance League of Sierra Foothills volunteers who sorted, packaged and brought the clothing to the schools in South Lake Tahoe to be distributed.Along with school and community volunteers thirty-nine (39) members volunteered six hundred forty-five (645) hours to ensure the success of this program. Fifty seven (57) schools in El Dorado County participated in the program with four (4) in-store shopping events and one (1) catalogue shopping event. One thousand one hundred five (1,105) students in El Dorado County received new school clothing at a cost of $119,922.02.The Operation School Bell Team is looking forward to next year as a new retail store has opened in South Lake Tahoe and plans are to increase the amount of the clothes allowance and the number of students served in El Dorado County.

  • Bags for BelongingsThe Bags for Belongings program provides duffel bags to children who are being removed from their homes by El Dorado County authorities and placed into foster care and children already in foster care who are being relocated. These children often do not have a personal bag in which to carry their belongings and are forced to use a large garbage bag. Our duffle bags enable these youth to carry their belongings with dignity which helps to build up self-esteem and give them hope. This year Assistance League of Sierra Foothills delivered sturdy duffel bags with laminated name tags to New Morning Youth and Family Services and El Dorado County Child Protective Services and AspireKids at a cost of $2,462.92.This year we expanded this program to include art supplies as requested by New Morning Shelter. Art is a way for traumatized youth to express their feelings, engage with staff and use free time productively. Two (2) members served on this committee working seventy (70) hours to deliver one hundred forty four (144) duffel bags to the three facilities..

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Not present in the most recent drop.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
