Mission

Tindley Accelerated Schools offers a rigorous, college-preparatory program that seeks to challenge each one of its students to pursue education beyond high school. It is the early college program that allows Tindley students the opportunity to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Tindley Accelerated Schools, in cooperation with its parents and the broader community, will empower its students - regardless of their past academic performance - to become successful learners who graduate with the capacity for rigorous college opportunities. Tindley Accelerated Schools will provide a powerful learning experience that intellectually engages, inspires, and spurs academic achievement through a challenging and interactive college-preparatory curriculum.

  • Tindley Accelerated Schools, Inc. (ganization") began operations in 2002 as the Charter for Accelerated Learning, Inc. to provide educational services including charter school management, turnaround school services, and education consulting. In 2004, the organization launched the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School as an open-enrollment charter school and currently serves grades 7-12. From the beginning, the organization's vision has been to ensure 100 percent of its students gain acceptance to a fully accredited four-year college or university. With this in mind, every student is required to complete a rigorous high school program culminating in authentic college courses. Regardless of past academic performance, Tindley accepts every scholar who applies and encourages each to reach their full potential. In August 2014, the organization opened Tindley Summit Elementary School serving as an open-enrollment charter elementary school which currently educates children in kindergarten through sixth grade. In August 2015, the organization opened Tindley Genesis Elementary School serving as an open-enrollment charter elementary school which currently educates children in kindergarten through third grade. Students at Genesis engage in concentrated music instruction throughout the school day which includes classes in instrumental music, singing, piano, and general music. In the area of math and science, Charles A. Tindley Accelerated High School's robotics team won the St. Joseph's District Highest Rookie Seed and Rookie All-Star honors in the 2017 FIRST Robotics competition. In 2023, they competed in the FIRST World Championship in Houston after winning the 2023 District Event Championship and being recognized with the Judge's Engineering Inspiration Award. This competition featured teams from 30+ nations. Tindley continues to promote and grow its extracurricular programs in conjunction with its rigorous academies, including, but not limited to, athletics, band, theater, community garden, and an innovation lab. Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year for each school was as follows: Charles A. Tindley Accelerated: 296 Tindley Summit Academy: 317 Tindley Genesis Academy: 358. The 2024-2025 school year marked a 20-year milestone. Over the last 20 years, more than 500 Tindley scholars have earned college credits from Anderson University and the University of Evansville. This year, Purdue University has been added as a partner. These scholars have earned 10,000 college credits while at Tindley. The total amount of money saved by these scholars is $8,751,850.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Grants received

The 10 largest by cash amount. The API serves every itemized grant.

Related organizations

From Schedule R Part II, where a filer lists the tax-exempt organizations it is related to by control. It does not record shared board members or money.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
