Mission

FREEKIND IS ON A MISSION TO PREVENT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN OUR COMMUNITIES AND SUPPORT SURVIVORS ON THEIR JOURNEY TO FREEDOM.

  • SURVIOR SUPPORT -VOLUNTEER SURVIVOR ADVOCATE TRAINING: USING A PROPRIETARY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM, WE EQUIP VOLUNTEERS TO ACT AS A RESOURCE, COACH AND FRIEND TO THE CLIENTS WE SERVE. -JAIL PROGRAMMING: USING A PROPRIETARY CURRICULUM, WE PROVIDE PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL CLASSES TO INMATES, ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS, TEACHING THEM ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING, HEALTHY BOUNDARIES AND RELATIONSHIPS AND THE IMPACT OF TRAUMA ON THE HUMAN BODY. IT IS IN THESE CLASSES, WHERE MANY REALIZE, FOR THE FIRST TIME, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN VICTIMIZED. IDENTIFICATION IS THE FIRST STEP IN THEIR JOURNEY TO HEALING. -CASE MANAGEMENT: WE EMPLOY CASE MANAGERS WHO, IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR TRAINED VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES & COMMUNITY PARTNERS, HELP TO MEET THE COMPLEX NEEDS OF LOCAL SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. THIS INCLUDES PROVISION OF BASIC NEEDS (FOOD, CLOTHING, SHELTER), COURT ADVOCACY FOR ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING, MATCHING & TRANSPORTATION TO LONG-TERM TREATMENT PROGRAMS, AND SUPPORT WITH PERMANENT HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT. -MENTAL/EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: IN ADDITION TO OUR VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES AND CASE MANAGERS, WE CONTRACT WITH SELECTED LICENSED CLINICAL THERAPISTS IN THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE FREE OR SUBSIDIZED COUNSELING SERVICES THAT ADDRESS THE COMPLEX TRAUMA OUR CLIENTS HAVE EXPERIENCED. THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF GENEROUS DONORS AND THE DEDICATION OF MORE THAN 110 VOLUNTEERS, IN 2025, FREEKIND: -IDENTIFIED 75 NEW VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFICKING -MATCHED 44 SURVIVORS TO LONG-TERM, RESIDENTIAL RESTORATIVE CARE, WITH A 98% COMPLETION RATE -ADVOCATED FOR ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING 73 TIMES, WITH A 99% FAVORABLE OUTCOME RATE FOR SURVIVORS WITH CRIMINAL CHARGES RELATED TO THEIR TRAFFICKING -PROOVIDED FOR BASIC NEEDS AND OTHER TRANGIBLE SUPPORT 797 TIMES

    Expenses $155,689

  • AWARENESS AND TRAINING -AWARENESS & TRAINING: WE REGULARLY SERVE AS SPEAKERS OR PANELISTS TO EDUCATE OTHER NON-PROFITS, BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS, FAITH COMMUNITIES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WE ALSO PROVIDE MORE IN-DEPTH, INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC TRAININGS FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND THOSE ALONG THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE CONTINUUM, INCLUDING MEMBERS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, PROBATION OFFICERS, JAIL PERSONNEL AND PUBLIC DEFENDERS. -PREVENTION EDUCATION: WE MAINTAIN AND ANNUALLY UPDATE CURRICULA TO EQUIP STUDENTS FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL THROUGH COLLEGE WITH THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO AVOID THE TRAPS OF TRAFFICKERS. THIS YEAR (2025), WE PILOTED A NEW EDITION OF THE PROGRAM, DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR USE IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE/DETENTION SETTING. WE PLAN TO LAUNCH THE NEW EDITION IN 2026. WE ALSO OFFER A SPANISH TRANSLATION OF OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULA. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Grants received

The 10 largest by cash amount. The API serves every itemized grant.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
