Mission

UNIDOSNOW'S MISSION IS TO ELEVATE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE GROWING HISPANIC/LATINO COMMUNITY IN MANATEE AND SARASOTA COUNTIES THROUGH EDUCATION, INTEGRATION, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT.

  • THE FUTURE LEADERS ACADEMY (FLA) IS A RIGOROUS, TWO-YEAR PROGRAM FOCUSED ON ADDRESSING THE DISPARITY IN COLLEGE ENROLLMENT FOR LOW-INCOME, FIRST-GENERATION HISPANIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SARASOTA AND MANATEE COUNTIES. LAUNCHED IN 2013, FLA PROVIDES STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS WITH THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL POST-SECONDARY PATH. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES COLLEGE PREPARATION FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN EARNING A COLLEGE DEGREE, OR A HIGH-QUALITY TECHNICAL CERTIFICATION. STUDENTS RECEIVE MONTHLY INDIVIDUALIZED 'NEAR PEER' COACHING FROM CURRENT OR RECENTLY GRADUATED COLLEGE STUDENTS, WITH ASSISTANCE IN AREAS SUCH AS ACT/SAT PREPARATION, ESSAY WRITING, RESUME BUILDING, SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS, AND FAFSA COMPLETION. STUDENTS ALSO ATTEND COLLEGE TOURS, AS WELL AS PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES. MANY ALSO SERVE AS LEADERS OF THE UNIDOS LEADNOW HIGH SCHOOL CLUBS, PROVIDING PEER SUPPORT AND PROMOTING A CULTURE OF POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AT LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS.

    Expenses $377,525 · Grants $29,706

  • FUTURE LEADERS ACADEMY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL (FLAM) EMPOWERS STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS WITH THE TOOLS, RESOURCES, AND SKILLS TO SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH A LONG-TERM POSTSECONDARY MINDSET. THROUGH INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES, STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS LEARN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING RIGOROUS CLASSES IN HIGH SCHOOL, BEING INVOLVED IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, TAKING ON LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, AND VOLUNTEERING IN THE COMMUNITY. STUDENTS ATTEND COLLEGE TOURS AND GAIN IMPORTANT SKILLS THROUGH HANDS-ON STEAM CAREER EXPLORATION WITH A FOCUS ON EMERGING CAREER PATHS, SUCH AS THOSE IN AI AND DIGITAL ARTS. THEY LEARN ABOUT VARIOUS POST-SECONDARY PATHS, INCLUDING TECHNICAL COLLEGES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND 4+ YEAR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES. IN ADDITION TO COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS, THE FLAM PROGRAM ALSO EMPHASIZES LIFE SKILLS, GOAL SETTING, PUBLIC SPEAKING, GOOD STUDY HABITS, AND TRANSITIONAL SKILLS.

    Expenses $88,018

  • THE 2-GEN EMPOWERED PARENTS PROGRAM SEEKS TO MEANINGFULLY ENGAGE AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP AMONG PARENTS IN OUR GROWING LATINO COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON LEADERSHIP, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, AND CIVIC PARTICIPATION. PARENTS LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AND ADVOCATE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. THROUGH MONTHLY WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES, PARENTS ALSO LEARN ABOUT AND CONNECT WITH THE RESOURCES OFFERED THROUGH THEIR CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY. PARENTS ARE ABLE TO ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND CONFIDENCE TO BE ACTIVE, INTEGRATED, AND CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF SOCIETY. EACH YEAR, A COHORT OF 10-15 PARENTS IS ALSO SELECTED TO BE PARENT LEADERS, WHERE THEY PARTICIPATE IN ADDITIONAL MONTHLY TRAINING IN SKILLS SUCH AS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND PUBLIC SPEAKING. AS AMBASSADORS FOR UNIDOSNOW, THEY VOLUNTEER AT LOCAL OUTREACH EVENTS AND SHARE RESOURCES WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS.

OUR BILINGUAL EDUCATION NAVIGATOR GUIDES STUDENTS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY, FROM APPLICATION TO CERTIFICATION OR COLLEGE COMPLETION.OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE LEADNOW HIGH SCHOOL CLUBS, WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT AND MENTORING FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AND VARIOUS REGIONAL COLLECTIVE INITIATIVES, WHICH PARTNER WITH OTHER YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS TO DELIVER PROGRAMMING TO STUDENTS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Grants received

The 10 largest by cash amount. The API serves every itemized grant.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
