Mission
NEW AMERICAN LEADERS ACTION FUND EMPOWERS AND SUPPORTS NEW AMERICANS WHO ARE READY TO LEAD, LEVERAGING RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO BREAK BARRIERS AND STRENGTHEN OUR DEMOCRACY.
Activities or mission (Part I)
DEDICATED TO LEADERSHIP FOR FIRST AND SECOND GENERATION AMERICANS IN CIVIC LIFE.
-
RESEARCH AND NARRATIVE CHANGE:NEW AMERICAN LEADERS ACTION FUND ("NALAF") AIMS TO BE A NATIONAL THOUGHT LEADER PRODUCING GROUNDBREAKING, ORIGINAL RESEARCH ON THE NEW AMERICAN EXPERIENCE AS CANDIDATES, OFFICEHOLDERS, AND VOTERS. OUR WORK STARTS WITH DATA AND RESEARCH. AS WE UNCOVER THE TRENDS, BARRIERS, AND BREAKTHROUGHS SHAPING NEW AMERICAN CIVIC LEADERSHIP, WE USE STRATEGIC STORYTELLING TO SHIFT PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND RESHAPE NARRATIVES ABOUT WHO LEADS AND WHY IT MATTERS. THROUGH TOOLS LIKE THE NEW AMERICAN CANDIDATE DATABASE (NACD) AND OUR STATE OF PAY REPORT, WE DON'T JUST TRACK WHO'S RUNNING WE INFORM HOW THE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY AND ARE WORKING TO CHANGE.THIS RESEARCH IS NOT JUST INFORMATIVE - IT IS FOUNDATIONAL. IT DIRECTLY SHAPES THE GEOGRAPHIES AND CANDIDATES WE PRIORITIZE FOR ENDORSEMENT, THE NARRATIVES WE CHALLENGE OR AMPLIFY, AND THE COMMUNITY AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES WE DESIGN. IN SHORT, IT MAKES OUR STRATEGY INTENTIONAL, DATA-DRIVEN, AND ALIGNED WITH THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.

ENDORSEMENTS AND CANDIDATE SUPPORT:AGAINST THE BACKDROP OF INCREASINGLY COMPETITIVE RACES, NALAF STEPS IN TO ENDORSE AND AMPLIFY NEW AMERICAN CANDIDATES PROVIDING MEANINGFUL ELECTORAL ENDORSEMENTS, COACHING, AND STRATEGIC CONNECTIONS THAT EQUIP THEM WITH THE TOOLS AND NETWORKS NEEDED TO WIN. WE AIM TO ENDORSE EARLY IN THE CYCLE, PROVIDING CANDIDATES WITH CRITICAL VISIBILITY, STRATEGIC GUIDANCE, AND A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION TO LEND LEGITIMACY TO THEIR CANDIDACIES THAT THEY MAY LACK IN TRADITIONAL POLITICAL SPACES. WE ENDORSE CANDIDATES WITH A DEMONSTRATED DEDICATION TO BEING PRO-DEMOCRACY AND PRO-IMMIGRANT. CANDIDATES MUST BE COMMITTED TO FURTHERING INCLUSIVE POLICIES AND TURNING OUT A DIVERSE COALITION OF VOTERS.BEYOND ENDORSEMENTS, WE PROVIDE CAMPAIGN SKILLS WEBINARS, REFERRALS TO TRUSTED CONSULTANTS, AND INTRODUCTIONS TO ALLIED ORGANIZATIONS. OVER SIX YEARS OF ENDORSEMENTS WORK, WE'VE SEEN THAT VALUES-ALIGNED SUPPORT ESPECIALLY WHEN PAIRED WITH STRATEGIC AMPLIFICATION CAN SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR FIRST-TIME CANDIDATES. IN 2024, NALAF-ENDORSED CANDIDATES EARNED A 61% WIN RATE, DEMONSTRATING THE POWER OF TARGETED SUPPORT IN HELPING NEW AMERICAN LEADERS WIN TOUGH RACES AND BUILD LASTING POLITICAL POWER.THESE CHAMPIONS NOT ONLY SHAKE UP POLITICS AS USUAL; THEY SERVE ON THE FRONTLINES FOR OUR COMMUNITIES, BRINGING RESOURCES TO UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS AND CALLING OUT SYSTEMIC INJUSTICES. WE ARE PROUD TO SUPPORT THESE TRAILBLAZING LEADERS ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL AND BEYOND.
Expenses $51,926

COMMUNITY AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT:OUR WORK IS STRENGTHENED BY OUR DIRECT ENGAGEMENT WITH NEW AMERICAN COMMUNITIES. WE ARE DEEPLY COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES ARE HEARD, EMPOWERED, AND MOBILIZED. WE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT TARGETED COMMUNITY AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES THAT STRENGTHEN OUR DEMOCRACY. THESE PROGRAMS REFLECT OUR COMMITMENT TO EXPANDING THE ELECTORATE AND ENSURING IMMIGRANT VOICES SHAPE POLICY OUTCOMES AT EVERY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Not present in the most recent drop.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
