Mission and programs · 2025
Primary exempt purpose
A service organization for dancers and choreographers in New Mexico, providing audience insurance, performance opportunities, fiscal sponsorship, and advocacy.
-
Serving as a fiscal sponsor for dance companies and dancers who do not yet have their non-profit status or have single events and have sponsors who want to contribute to their activities. In 2025, NMDC had 4 fiscal agents, ranging from indigenous, African, Middle Eastern, and Spanish styles of dance. Audience insurance for Fiscal Agents are provided by another sub-program (below). NMDC expenses are minimal because NMDC does not keep a physical office: State filing fees, bank fees, & software.
Expenses $189
-
NMDC annually produces two dance events (36 years running except during COVID), offering all experience levels, from children to professionals. The Choreographers' Showcase with two indoor shows had numbers of choreographers, dancers, and attendees: 11, 17, and 180, respectively. The free outdoor event, MonoMundo, is held on the Santa Fe Plaza and had choreographers, dancers, and attendees (estimated): 8, 22, and 400, respectively.
Expenses $5,422
-
NMDC provides volunteer adminitrative support for professional-level dance productions and activities in line with its mission by its members and Fiscal Agents. In 2025, NMDC's main performance activities (in addition to its public events of the Choreographers Showcase and MonoMundo in #2) were a) Flamenco performances in Santa Fe with international guests, b) Middle Eastern performances worldwide c) East African dance/drumming event, and d) indigenous performances with national and multinational performers. Income for these are from outside grants and private donors (ticket sales are not included in the fiscal agent income contract). Major expenses are space rental, transportation fees, admintrative contractors, and costume costs.
Expenses $88,300
-
NMDC provides to members audience insurance at a low collective price, typically 1/5th the cost of individual policies. This service saved the dance community $1000s annually in insurance fees and often was the difference between a successful event and one not financially viable.
Expenses $395
-
NMDC provides scholarships to underserved students in local dance development programs. In 2025 NMDC awarded $650 to the SEEDS program for one student: SEEDS is a holistic training focused on developing self esteem in teens through dance, and includes training on mental health, personal finances, etc. The funding was provided by a donation and treated as a fiscal agent donation so the grant entry here is $0.
As filed on the 2025 return.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all.

Auto-Revocation List
Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.
Publication 78
Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.
These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
