Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- PART I, LINE 4A:
- DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2022, DANIEL J. STRODEL, CHIEF ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, RECEIVED A SEVERANCE PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $182,500. THIS AMOUNT IS REPORTED ON SCHEDULE J, PART II, COLUMN B(III).
- PART I, LINE 4B:
- THE ORGANIZATION HAS A NON-QUALIFIED SUPPLEMENTAL EXECUTIVE RETIREMENT PLAN (SERP) FOR ITS CEO, JEFF TRANDAHL. THIS CONTRIBUTION IS AN UNVESTED EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION. SERP INTERESTS ARE FORFEITED BY THE PARTICIPANT IF THE PARTICIPANT VOLUNTARILY TERMINATES EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO THE VESTING DATES SPECIFIED UNDER THE SERP. SERP INTERESTS ARE HELD IN A TRUST SUBJECT TO THE CLAIMS OF THE FOUNDATION'S BANKRUPTCY CREDITORS. IN THE EVENT OF A FOUNDATION BANKRUPTCY, PARTICIPANTS WOULD BECOME GENERAL UNSECURED CREDITORS OF THE FOUNDATION. THE SERP IS A NONQUALIFIED DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN, WHICH MEANS THAT PARTICIPANTS DO NOT RECEIVE THE TAX BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO PARTICIPANTS IN TAX QUALIFIED RETIREMENT PLANS. FOR EXAMPLE, UNDER CURRENT LAW, INTERESTS UNDER THOSE ARRANGEMENTS ARE REPORTABLE AS TAXABLE COMPENSATION WHEN THEY BECOME VESTED, EVEN IF THOSE AMOUNTS ARE NOT YET PAYABLE TO THE PARTICIPANT (AND EVEN IF THOSE AMOUNTS ARE NEVER PAID TO THE PARTICIPANT). IN ADDITION, THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN A 457(F) RETIREMENT PLAN AND RECEIVED A NON-QUALIFIED DEFERRED COMPENSATION FROM THAT PLAN DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2022. THOMAS KELSCH $10,269 LILA HELMS $10,515 TIMOTHY DICINTIO $8,524 THE SERP'S DESIGN WAS REVIEWED AND OPINED UPON AS REASONABLE BY AN INDEPENDENT COMPENSATION CONSULTANT. THE SERP WAS APPROVED BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES/COMPENSATION COMMITTEE OF THE FOUNDATION'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
- PART I, LINE 7:
- BONUSES PAID ARE REPORTED IN SCHEDULE J, PART II, COLUMN B (II). BONUSES ARE CONSIDERED IN THE INDEPENDENT COMPENSATION STUDIES AND ARE USUALLY PAID WITHIN A FIXED RANGE. THIS PLAN IS DESIGNED TO RECOGNIZE PERFORMANCE THAT ATTAINS PREVIOUS YEAR GOALS AND REWARDS PERFORMANCE THAT SIGNIFICANTLY EXCEEDS STATED GOALS.
- PART II, LINE 1, COLUMN C:
- RETIREMENT AND DEFERRED COMPENSATION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/CEO CONSISTS OF EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION TO THE 403B PLAN WHICH IS BASED ON THE SAME EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION FORMULA APPLICABLE TO ALL ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES.
Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
