Mission

JPEF preserves the extraordinary history of the Jewish partisans of World War II and, drawing on their courage and resilience, produces and distributes educational materials that teach young people why and how to resist antisemitism and hate.

  • Throughout the year, JPEF worked on enhancing its new curriculum, Foundations of Resistance: A Curriculum to Counter Antisemitism for Grades 6-12, as part of the CA Teacher's Collaborative on Holocaust and Genocide Education. JPEF added two new Jewish partisan webquests to this site and two critical conversation guides addressing antisemitism. The organization also introduced two new lesson plans on Women in the Partisans and Living and Surviving in the Partisans. In June 2024, it presented several of its new lessons to teachers from throughout the State of California during a 3-day seminar.

    Expenses $65,000

  • Outreach (Teacher Training and Collaboration): JPEF conducted 13 teacher training institutes, reaching more than 450 new educators. These teachers will reach more than 28,000 students in the next year. JPEF continued engaging in long-term collaborations with other Holocaust organizations and focused on reenergizing and strengthening existing partnerships. To this end, it trained 30 new museum and educational staff members who, in turn, will train colleagues and educators in their locations. JPEF continued working closely with Facing History and Ourselves and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and also joined with Kean University, the Virginia Holocaust Museum and the Tennessee Holocaust Commission in presenting joint in-person training workshops with constituents.

    Expenses $63,000

  • JPEF launched its online virtual display of Pictures of Resistance in April 2024. More than 14,000 people visited this powerful exhibit by the end of the year.

    Expenses $27,097

  • E-Learning and Website: JPEF added seven new biographies of Jewish partisans to one of its websites and continued to perform routine upgrades to both websites to ensure accessibility of its online professional development, films, lesson plans, and educational resources to students, educators, and constituents. Upgraded the website platform to ensure continued functionality and migrated it. Built a new web platform to accommodate Foundations of Resistance. 136,000 people visited JPEF?s websites for information, with more than 35,100 viewing JPEF-s films and partisan interviews.

    Expenses $13,000

  • JPEF continued its long-range strategic planning process with its Board of Directors. The process, which will continue through 2025, will chart JPEF's course through sustainability, succession planning, program development, and more over the next 5-10 years.

    Expenses $12,000

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

Grants made

No itemized grants to organizations. Schedule I is filed only by organizations that granted more than $5,000 to a recipient, so most filers have none.

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
