Mission

YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) is the national resource office for the nation's 2,600+ Ys, which strengthen community by nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living for all and fostering social responsibility. Collectively, the Y serves 6.6 million youth under the age of 18 and 10.3 million adults.

Activities or mission (Part I)

YMCA OF THE USA (Y-USA) IS THE NATIONAL RESOURCE OFFICE FOR THE NATION'S NEARLY 2,600 YS, WHICH STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY BY NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF KIDS, PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVING FOR ALL AND FOSTERING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

  • Social Responsibility: for nearly 175 years, the Y has responded to our nation's most pressing social needs and has supported those who need it most. Today, 1 in 5 children in the United States do not know where their next meal is coming from. In response to that, the YMCA works in communities across the country to ensure children are receiving the nutritious meals and snacks they need to reach their full potential. In 2024, the Y served 2.3 million kids nutritious meals and snacks through their programs. New American Welcome Center Ys continued their work to support newcomer immigrants in 2024, providing English language classes, employment assistance, citizenship classes and more. Additionally, 433,000 military personnel and families received support through child care, education, health programs, financial and employee assistance.

    Expenses $64,782,978 · Grants $9,879,044 · Revenue $27,898,319

  • Youth Development: at the Y, we believe America's young people are changemakers with the skills, commitment and resources necessary to create the communities that we all want to live in. We also believe success depends on our collective ability to reach and inspire this next generation to be globally minded, civically-engaged problem solvers. The Y's youth and government program continued to provide thousands of teens nationwide with the opportunity to immerse themselves in experiential civic engagement and practice democracy in their communities. The Y provided this support to millions of children through its many youth offerings, including afterschool programs, child care, head start programs, sports, swim lessons and more. These activities provided a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, develop relationships, exercise social-emotional learning and connect with positive role models.

    Expenses $56,328,686 · Grants $30,159,569 · Revenue $45,087,602

  • Healthy Living: the Y is committed to improving the nation's health, which is why Ys provide a variety of chronic disease programs-in-person and virtually-designed to help people reduce their risk for or manage chronic diseases. Collectively, Ys served more than 230,000 participants at more than 355 associations in programs such as the YMCA's diabetes prevention program, YMCA's blood pressure self-monitoring (blood pressure management), Livestrong at the YMCA (cancer survivorship), healthy weight and your child (family weight management), and enhancefitness (arthritis management). Nationally, the Y continued developing its community care model of mental health and refining mental health tools that help Y staff care for themselves and their community.

    Expenses $33,120,252 · Grants $7,348,797 · Revenue $24,801,604

The first 25 listed. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. Earlier years are each on their own filing page.

Nonprofiteer parses Forms 990, 990-EZ and 990-PF, in a window of recent tax years. These returns are recorded from the IRS e-file index, so their figures were extracted by that index rather than read from the return here — treat them as a different source from the filings above, not as more of the same record. A dash means the index carries no figure; Form 990-T listings carry none at all. Showing the 10 most recent; the API carries the rest.

From Schedule R Parts I, III and IV: entities that legally are the filer, and taxable partnerships, corporations and trusts it is related to. These record ownership and control, not shared board members or money.

California fundraising campaigns

Campaigns run by paid fundraisers, commercial coventurers and thrift stores naming this organization, as California published them. Both figures are as filed, and what the first one counts depends on the campaign type — a coventurer or a thrift store files its own sales rather than money collected for the charity. The 990 reports this only as a yearly total, never per campaign.

  • WYNDHAM HOTEL GROUP LLC

    $41,395 in sales

    2020 Commercial Coventurer

    $4,140 to charity

  • WYNDHAM HOTEL GROUP LLC

    $67,609 in sales

    2019 Commercial Coventurer

    $7,406 to charity

Amounts are as filed and do not add up: a commercial coventurer reports one promotion's whole gross once for each charity that shared in it. A campaign may also name more than one registered charity, in which case it appears on each.

Other IRS files

Auto-Revocation List

Not listed. The IRS publishes this list for organizations whose exemption was automatically revoked for failing to file for three consecutive years.

Publication 78

Listed as of 13 October 2026, under deductibility PC.

These are two separate IRS files on two separate schedules, shown as published and not reconciled with each other. Neither is a statement about whether a contribution is deductible today: 19,245 organizations appear in Publication 78 while the IRS's own revocation file lists them as currently revoked, more than half of those revoked before 2019. Absence from Publication 78 is evidence of nothing, and presence is not evidence either. Verify current status with the IRS before relying on it.
